Grrrrs,
Good eye,I too noticed that the radiator needs to be painted. I saw that when I took the picture. I will most certainly do that. I am with you, I think the 67 grill is the best looking grill for these cars. When I started to put parts together for the rebuild I just could not justify puttingt he LeMans grills back in. I have some tweeking to do on the car. I moght end up installing the 67 hood scoop. That does not thrill the painter too much. He has much time involved with the current hood and does not want to disturb it. Other than some more small details I think I will leave it alone for awhile. My wife and I dated in this car twenty years ago. It has been in the garage ever since. I kept telling people that one day we will finish it. Now that the kids are old enough and the house is nearly paid for I did some car dealing and got the LeMans finished. BTW, thanks for the comment! |

Walt, yeah it looks funny without the scoop. A scoop always goes with the GTO grill. You could set the hood you have now up as a canopy over yer bed so it doesn't go to waste. Or make up a story for the wife so she goes for it. LOL Then get the GTO hood... the painter will understand...eventually. LOL

I guess I am a minority here. I like the '66 grilles better. Really I think it's the molding how it goes the while way around the grill as opposed to the '67 that is just on top of the grilles.
I like 'em all anyways. Because they are Pontiacs.

I too like them all Tod, same as you. But for some reason the 67s seems a bit gutsyier with the wire mesh is what I meant. If it had the moulding all the way around like the 66s, that with put the frosting on the cake. Too bad the 68s didn't end up a combination the the 2 years, and 69 the start of the new style bumper with the horizontal headlights. To me the years with the stacked headlights really made the statement the car was a Pontiac.
Dynacorn.... come on and do the 66 and 67 Pontiac A bodies for us too.

As much as I like all years GTO's (Except the Nova...er I mean '74), The '64 - '67 GTO's (LeMans, Tempests, too) are by far the best looking GM A-bodies, period. The '65 Olds F85/442 was a really nice looking car, too.

66 and 67 are my favorites too, but that big nose on the 70 and 71 looks sharp too.

I haven't posted here in awhile, so I guess this is a good place to start.
First pic was taken in Tucson AZ. Second was me lined up with the GTO Tiger at the 2004 GTO Nationals. |

Just dragged this one home today
I've got a 400 Pontiac in the shed. Paid a grand for it. There are 2 holes hiding under the vinyl top. Not sure what I am doing about that.
The inside is pretty nice after we vacuumed out the walnut shells that the rats left behind. Some oddball things about the car. It's an AC car and does not have power brakes. All drums. Take care, |

'67 GTO Hardtop
Here's a '67 GTO I've had for a few years now, like most of my old Pontiacs it needs a full restoration. Originally from PA but ended up in CA back in the mid-80s, so it has no AIR system on the engine.
It's a 335HP TH400 car with A/C, power drum brakes, power steering and a rear window defogger. Has a worn original Parchment interior and mostly original Tyrol Blue paint with the white vinyl top removed many years ago before the rust underneath got too bad. Must have been a very nice car for cruising and everyday driving, it has enough comfort options and a pretty nice looking color combo.

6 Grrrs, thanks bud.
Got super lucky on the find. I had a 67 goat and started trying to find a body for it to save me some money and head ache. I know next to nothing about body work. Was out messing around with it one day and started thinking how you always read about someone finding some awesome car in an old ladies barn and what not. Went in and checked out Ebay and found it close to home. Looked at it the next day, and bought it a day later. Sold my goat to the guy i bought the lemans from today actually. Some more info on the car. 455old with edlebrock heads and intake, Turbo 400 his and hers, 3 inch duel flowmasters, front discs, and the original carpet from 67, a little brown now however in that cool old way. Body is greaton it, nick here and there, for character But nothing crazy. Interoir is good all around minus a crack on the dash pad, and a tear on the driver side arm rest. Nothing a good sunny weekend and a few paychecks won't cure though. Car turns a bunch of heads here, one of two around. And the only younger guy not in a ricer. Can't beat that lol But anyway I love the forum . Started lurking around a few years ago when I got the goat. Great info. Thanks guys for all the help so far, and future help I'm sure i'll need C |

Here's some pics of some of the upgrades I did to my '67 over the winter. I added a factory (later year) cruise control, tilt wheel, rally gages, a hydratech brake assist system, quick ratio steering, and I found a guy with a set of NOS grilles that wanted $100 for the pair.

In addition, I decided it was time to clean up all the mess of wiring under dash, so I installed a new harness when I put in the rally gages.
I finished pimping it out with an upgraded radio which will play tunes off my I-pod, and also pimped it out with a vacuum gage.
