Progress continues....

The dash has now been sprayed out and the trunk has spatter. Everything looks great.

How cool is this? Deck lid is fit. Thanks to a friend in the Windy City for providing a pristine original with no extra holes. The bottom of the hood is now finished as well and looks great.

One of the cool things about this car will be all the parts and pieces that have come friends such as Chris, Craig, Mike, Bruce, Dan and many others. A lot of good memories will be associated with this car.

That is cool Bob, mojo in the car for sure. In a way one can get immune to resto's, as they are not uncommon. But this car is so special with color and options and rare, it really is going to shine (pun) after all the amazing craftsmanship. I have been digging your unique methodology of build. Some real logical ideas on assembly, way cool. Great read THX!

The "spatter" looks like a well conceived Mixture of semi gloss 2K and spatter paint shot with a 2.0 nozzle.( "Flake" size) . I love how it looks way more durable than the rattle can and top coat method. It really does look stock. I am thinking Darrel could sell this Ohio "moonshine" on the side and retire on it!! I am Impressed, and that doesnt come easy with me...

I'd buy some of that Moonshine for sure Bruce!! Love the way that spatter turned out. Bob, you are right about the specialness of this car because of all the friends who've helped in the process. It's a great story and the car will reflect it when done. How's the elk hunting - are they bugling strong? Sharing any moonshine with your pals?

The hunt is going great. Got a really nice 6 X 6 bull last night. Also, I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear that I brought 2 quarts of Apple Pie shine with me, but these guys in New Mexico are a little scared of it. When you hand them the jar it's as if you've handed them a rattlesnake. They are all afraid of getting bitten.....

NIce bull Bob! I can personally attest to the "bite" of Sweet Apple Pie, which sneaks up on you slowly...somewhat like a snake. I know that once it hit me I couldn't walk a straight line back to the hotel! I'd bet that my tracks would have resembled the marks a snake might leave on the ground!

Darrell is rocking on, but so is the clock. Everything is sprayed out and they are now wet sanding and buffing. We'll either make or not, but whatever happens this will be a bitching car...

T-43 days and counting.

Darrell is starting to get into the supply of pieces of parts. He is picking up momentum and things are starting to really move.

Car looks awesome, Bob.

Is Dennis going to paint the gas tank straps with black overspray or leave them shiny?

Here's some original photos that show the straps when I first removed the tank. They actually had more black overspray on the tank-side of the strap than the outside of the straps, casued by the way they hung while going down the assembly line in the Norwood paint facility. The tank had a 12/30/1970 date on it.

Damn, what a mess. The straps do have some overspray, here's a pic. Not as much as in your pics, but hard to tell if that's original or the 1985 Neil Diamond redo.
