Guys just to keep every one informed,we fired up the car on Sunday after installing the 3 inch exhaust, the Pypes X pipe, the sound is nice not too lound but it sounds like a GTO .Here are some more pics of the exhaust system that I used.I just have to weld the tail pipes on.the package from Performance Years was Top notch with enough Pipe and Clamps to do the job.

Don't expect to get your money back out of it, if you try to sell it later, especially if it's a Hardtop, sorry.

I get as many second looks in my Red Tempest Ragtop as anyone in a $45 to $50K "Frame Off" will, plus I can actually drive mine!!

It's a Toy, It's a cool old car, but, it's NOT an investment, It's recreation dollars plain and simple.

Some prefer whiskey, or women, or weed, just don't spend more than you can afford, and hold back a little for your other vices while you are at it....

If you want a "New GTO" that will run you around $34K with a 6 speed and an LS1. Not much "Heart" but the A/C and brakes will probably be better than you can cobble together.

Thanks for all the great advice, especially the restoration by slgenge. I've decided to do much of the dirty work myself. In a few months I will have a stripped down 66 tri-power,(bare metal, no interior, engine sent out for rebuild, and an inventory of new or reconditioned parts. It will go to a local restoration shop for things I don't have experience or tools such as welding and paint. If you are starting out and have some
time I would recommend this method. From the original condition to restoring it somewhere between a driver and perhaps a trophy winner a local shows it will cost about $28,000- including purchase.
