I admire your willingness to "go the distance" to check out a lead. It seems to me the few individuals who possess the originals, the molds for the reproductions, the reproductions will need to essentially donate their prized possessions for proper copies to be made and then reproductions. Although it seems like a long shot, stranger things have happened. We were "loaned" an original Boss Bird body, with a huge deposit, so me could make an accurate mold off of it. So it could happen through the generosity of the people holding the parts and the desire to get more of these super cool parts out in a proper re-production. I hope it happens, my 62 Catalina would look great with one under the hood.

If someone wants to take on the project and found a place near LA,CA that could scan it I would pull mine from my car and take it there. The issue then it would only work on 61-64 heads.Someone that had one of the later version could do the same.FWIW,Tom

Tom,
Is that something Jon Schmidt can do? If not he probably knows someone that can. Also with prices coming down you might look into how much it would cost to have one 3D printed. Stan

Like any job the cost will be time, material and x percent profit. So how much do you think it would cost to print a single manifold, once the programing is done? Stan

I am going to check Monday morning with a few shops that have bought these machines and see if they could give a guesstimate.

I think without getting a post 64 version to scan we are wasting our time.Tom

I don't know about it being a waste of time, but I would be in the post 64 group along with some others. Probably the few folks running the old, original heads or SD heads already have a bathtub or a manifold they are happy with and wish to retain rather than a reproduction. So finding a post 64 re-pop and someone willing to let it be scanned and copied would be my focus as well. Again, I wouldn't want to do anything to discourage this from happening. They are so cool.

While I am not interested in getting a manifold, I am interested in the technology. Were you ever able to get an estimate? Stan

I talked to a few people but without an intake to have on the table to look at discuss they were very reluctant to give a price estimate. I am going to try a few other shops but these machines are still fairly new in the machine tool field and I do not have any local in my area.
I would even like to try on made out of a polymer/plastic if possible.

We have a late model repop that has been used on the Catalina and my old GTO. I would be willing to take it to any shops you have a relationship here in the Midwest. Obviously I won’t ship it anywhere just because they are just so hard to find. I sold one a few years back, I’m sure it’s worth twice the coin today. Let me know if I can help. Thanks. I have talked to Jon at length,he is close to me and has done a few small CNC jobs for me.Even if I had the molds im not willing to tie up thousands of dollar with little chance of breaking even.Did 3 rounds of RA V balancers and it took me too many years to get my money back.Tom

Tom,
No need for you to put out any money but the cost of a manifold for yourself. $3000 to model a manifold divided by how many want a manifold (everyone's money upfront before Jon starts) . Plus $1000 to print manifold. Stan

Agree Stan. There should be enough people that would Pony Up the cash up front so no one has to invest heavily. Hopefully Jon would be interested in help make this happen.
