The surface and the underside are 2 separate pieces bonded together.

For the dual gauge pod jetski hood. I pulled a mold from only the top skin of a factory single gauge pod hood. There are no under cuts to trap my factory part in the mold. I then made a fiberglass single gauge pod hood from that mold. Then I laid up fiberglass only in the gauge pod area of the mold to make just a gauge pod to bond and mold onto the fiberglass single gauge pod hood I had made. I made alot of measurements and made some templates of the contours of the original gauge pod side of the hood. I sectioned and bonded the pod to the hood, bondoed around it, carved the bondo down to the correct shape with 36 grit and files and kept checking with my templates. Once I got the shape right I primered and sanded and painted it. I then pulled a mold off of that mock up dual gauge pod hood. Then I laid carbon fiber in the mold and made my carbon fiber dual gauge pod hood.

For the underside, I made a mold of the factory underside only. Made my bottom part in carbon. I then bonded the top and underside together.

John, I stopped by your booth at the Car Craft show on Sunday. You were busy with someone so I didn't want to bother you, but I did check out all the carbon fiber stuff on display - it looked great! That jetski is something else.

We have it ready to ride and we took it to a small lake for a test. It rides very nice and handles great. This thing jumps out of the water under it's own power!

Not yet, but again over this winter I hope to get time to do the front bumper assembly, valance, fenders, doors and trunk lid.

I have been riding the Carbon jet ski alot, about 8 tanks of gas. So far I have not had any problems. No leaks, no cracking, no flaking or chipping of the clear, no warping, no de-lamination. It still looks like the first day I put it in the water.

Don't have to ask if someone likes to play with carbon fiber. Is the stuff as itchy as fiberglass? Nice work, by the way.

68-69 Firebird consoles, modified, I shaved the character off the corners to make these easier to make. The box glues in from the bottom. The shift hole can be put anywhere you want it. I will be making automatic shifter plates too.

Carbon fiber.

Fiberglass too.

I sold some of my scoop inserts to a guy that purchased a reproduction 69 t/a hood. He says they almost fit perfect. Looks like a little sanding on the edges and they should fit perfect.

How much would a top skin of the hood be?

My glass hood is like a potato chip thin on my race car, very light but starting to show its age.

I do have 1 defect skin left, very thin, would need some more material on the underside or some ribs to make it more rigid. This skin is truly potato chip thin and light at 2 or 3lbs. You could remove the skin from your hood and bond this one to your frame. You could make it cosmetically good looking carbon with alot of work, or you could just paint it. $200+shipping
