The INSERT portion of the hood scoop is BLACK. The hood scoop itself is body color.

Hood scoops
There is an earlier thread on this that I started that came to the same conclusion: The ribbed portion of the scoops should be black. Flat black is recommended here and shown on an NOS part.
I painted the ones on my ‘68 GTO flat black with a small brush and believe this to be easier than masking and spraying. Ron |

After looking at your post, a light went off in my head about those scoop inserts.
It was a loooong time ago (like 1969!), but I remember how surprised I was to find the chrome ribs in the scoop openings on a used '66 I wanted to buy. They were set back in the opening and always shaded, so I had assumed they were painted body color or black.
