Thanks johnta1, useful info there
Here are some more pictures of the car. Its strange at how rusty the trunk pan and quarters are then to find the floor pan in perfect condition. There isn't any rust to be found on the inside floor. I have yet to get the car on stands and roll around under it to see what the under side floor looks like.
I have a complete set of the 14" wheels. I like those wheels but, I'd much rather have a set of them in a 15". Anyone want to trade?
I will have a lot of parts and pieces off of this so if any of you need something that this may have, I can get you hooked up. That is if the part is there and in good condition.

I could use all six sections of the body side moldings if they are the factory installed ones that are bolted (not taped) onto the car. These are the stainless moldings with the black rubber center sections, for protectng aginst door dings. Could you post a close up of the trim sections on the front of the quarter? I should be able to tell if its a factory piece from that. Thanks, Steve

Here ya go, NjSteve. They do look like they could be original. Some of the ends are missing but the mouldings look to be in useable condition.

Those are aftermarket ones. The originals are stainless and do not have detacheable ends. Thanks for posting the photos. Here is an original:

I have the donor sub frame off the car, disassembled and ready to go off to media blasting. Tell ya, I had a heck of a time getting those rear bolts of the lower control arms off. The bolt had rusted to the inside of the bushing.
I am looking for a company that makes ALL of the brake and fuel lines. I want to go stainless, too. Can I get some feedback on who does good aftermarket remakes on these?

Update on the build. I took the sub frame, control arms, spindles, sway bar, radiator support, bumper brackets and some other parts off of the 70 Esprit parts car and 5 15x7rally II wheels to be media blasted. Started on the wheels last Tuesday and finally blew the clear coat on them yesterday.
These wheels are very time consuming. The sanding and making took hours and hours. The colors may or may not look correct for these wheels but I am not at all concerned with the accuracy of the colors. I think they look great all glossy, too. Next week I will get them mounted up to the tires and bolt them on the car.
Next part is the sub frame. I am going to re-weld the factory welds then get color on it this week. Its going to be a lot of fun swapping out the sub frame. The good part is I have all of the new parts collected for the job.

Wrong

Edvisme, Good find. Seems harder to find these cars that aren't canabolized, good start though. Looks like you are wasting no time setting things straight.

Another Coronado Gold RAIII owner here, good color combo Keep the pics coming.

Thanks Formulajones. Finally! Got the wheels done and installed today. Still need to snap the new trim rings on em. I'm going to delay that for as long as possible because once they go on, they will always be on due to scratching the pretty paint.

The wheels look GREAT, and here's the first vote for NO TRIM RINGS. You'll find that there are several PY'ers that feel the same way.

Here are a couple of shots from my old cars as examples . . .

I do like the look with out the rings A LOT. How ever, I do like the rings on them, too. I bought a complete set of new rings so I'm tempted to snap one on just to see how it looks.

Well, its on now. I sold the hood off the car this last Monday so its time to tare the car down and rebuild it. Soon after it was gone I tore into the front end. She's been abused badly over the years. I found some damage under the right fender. The outer firewall has been pushed in due to a crash, then a scab repair was attempted to pull it out. I get to replace that section along with the rocker panel on the right side.
Funny how even the biggest projects can become even bigger.

Sheesh, parts are expensive! I just blew through a grand on Classic Industry's site. I bet I spend another 5 grand on this before shes rolling down the road this spring.
That's for sure, 2manyt/a. Tell ya, I am sooo glad I happened upon that 70 esprit parts car, and it being an a/c car to boot. The a/c box on mine has been "repaired." I didn't notice it until the fender was removed. whomever did the "repair" on the formula when it was t-boned, fiber glassed the a/c box (scab repair.) Good thing I have a good one off the esprit. Plus, I'm going to cut the firewall end cap off the esprit car and weld it in place on the Formula. I will be a busy man through the winter.

X2 on leaving the trim rings off. Much tougher looking without them. Get a spare set of wheels if you want to run the rings occasionally.

The past couple of day were spent taking the interior apart. I tool everything out, even removed the dash. Once I removed the gages I found that they were not "original" to the car. I'm learning about these cars so folks, go easy on me The tach and all the gages were "spliced" into the original wiring harness. Plus, many other cuts and hacks were done to the harness through out the car. I went ahead and bought a complete wiring harness from American Auto wiring. The tech there told me that this wiring harness will be just like if I went into a Pontiac Dealership in 1972 or so and needed it. AAW bought all the wiring jigs and diagrams for these cars. I will report on its quality once I receive it.
Now onto the fun part. When I checked out the car before I bought it the floors and all the underside looked solid, rust free. Right! The interior side has some issues. Both drivers and passengers side foot panel look like swish cheese. Plus the passenger side panel under the passenger seat, too. So I'm at a wits end now. Not sure what path to take. Either patch it together or go the gusto and do a complete floor pan. Also, I found that the car had been converted to a manual trans in its life. There's a hacked up patch panel over the hole where the floor was cut open for the shifter.
Oh well, these cars are a labor of love. Looks at though I get to add another 100 hours to the build time

For what it's worth American Auto Wire has a awesome reputation of reproducing a headache free Top quality harness... While I don't personally do the electrical installs on my builds at 54,,, I have used them for years on "all of my birds and have never had an issue" (or a phone call complaining about this or that) or been disappointed with the products they have delivered... They have done everything from stock harness to all out custom built harness work for the custom gauge and LS conversion we've done as well... 100% top drawer company in my books...

Default Food for thought....?

Spotted this in the Firebirds for sale...

Seems to have ALOT of what you need to repair/replace on your car....

Not real pretty, but hopefully NO nasty surprises....
