Another car season starting here in Australia. We are well into Spring heading for a nice hot Summer. Plenty of cruising and plenty of shows to attend. I have added some photos I took of one of the local shows here where they have combined a swap meet with a show & shine. Weather was still a bit chilly and overcast but cloudy is good for photo taking.


This first photo is my mate Johnny. We made him buy this cap for $5 and then made him wear it for the whole day. He is a good sport.

The last photo is of a Morris Minor Ute running one of those 3.8L Buick V6 engines. These were originally used in our Holden Commodores when they stopped using the Australian designed in line six.

Not wanting to intrude on Tony's post here but for those who look at the two-tone green '59 Chev Belair, that's now a very rare car here insofar as it appears to be factory stock. Almost impossible to find one that hasn't been modified in any way.

The small lights hanging under each wing are factory installed indicators. The laws of the day would not allow red flashing indicators (as used in the US), so these Guide lamps were used.

The car was assembled here in Australia using American & Canadian sourced body panels, driveline and chassis but the side glass, the interior trim and carpets were all locally made. The car was fully trimmed with leather seats and pure wool carpets. The front & rear glass was imported.

NO heater or radio were supplied but were optioned. No V8 option either. Only an in-line 6. Auto was standard.

The colour is a regular Holden colour as were available on 1959 Holdens and Vauxhalls.

In its day, it was considered a high line car here. Very few were sold as they were very expensive to buy.

I can't see a single pic. That still seems to be the case about 50% of the time on this site for me, ever since the photobucket deal.... Don't know why.

I put these up using Imgur. I have completely given up on Photobucket.

I don't know if this will help but go to your "User CP" tab which is on the left hand side of your screen near the top.
Once there go down to "Setting & Option" LHS
Then click on "Edit Options"
Then look for "Thread Display Options" on the RHS window. It's a fair way down.
Then make there is a tick next to "Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)"
If you needed to tick it go way to the bottom of teh page and save the changes.

I had a genuine LC XU1 Bathurst tank and all. Why oh why did I ever sell it. This was about 30 years ago.

Thanks for posting, I like going to car shows its nice to see whats happening elsewhere. I like the fez as well! Its kinda of depressing though that your season is starting and ours is on life support at this time, getting ready to hunker down for a long cold winter

Thanks for all the great pics. Good to see so many 4 door cars; they are rare at most shows I have been to. Wish that wasn't the case because there are many great looking older cars that came primarily in 4-door models. Just doesn't seem to be the incentive to restore them or at least keep them in good condition.

Looks like a nice car show.. also glad to see the weather is looking warm, its cold over here but I will be in the Melbourne area in 3 weeks time.. hopefully I might be able go to a nice car show while Im there...

Thanks for taking the time to instruct me on this but everything is already set on my control panel. Could be that since I haven't tried to look at this post at home, that it may be work related. They have their own 'intranet' and it can be picky.
By the way, I always enjoy very much the car show pics you post. Very nice cars down under! Good to see how they are valued and appreciated in your part of the world. Thanks for posting.

Well, it is apparently work-location related. I can see all the pics now from my home laptop.
