1964 GTO trunk moulding
What is the correct hardware ( trim moulding clip/ screws ) to attach the rear trunk lip moulding on a 64 GTO? There are eight holes in the trunk lid to attach the moulding. Thanks Danny

on my 64 lemans theres chrome trim that runs the width of the trunk lid.looks like the trim has screw studs going through the lid.back side has acron nuts which i think are factory.

I believe there are 8 threaded studs with square heads that slide into a channel in the molding. The acorn nuts then hold the molding to the trunklid.
Mine were rotted/missing so I found some threaded inserts that slid into the molding and used flat-headed screws for the time being.

the two outsider corners have a threaded style clip with a spring to hold it in place . the others are the buterfly style with a spring to keep in place . my original acorn nuts were so so . I found some chrome or stainless cap nuts at the local hardware store in the specialty drawers. I have a bag of them here in a plastic storage bin . I'm trying to remember I think I had to shorten the stud a little on the stud clips I got from napa. I did this a few years back .If you need more pics let me know . Don

I found the acorn nuts for mine at Home Depot in the "specialty fatstners" drawers. The were even the correct looking stamped and folded metal types, not the cast solid metal ones. I am assuming the Lemans had the same fastners as the GTO's.

Thanks to all! I know what I need to find. I took the car apart three years ago and forgot how it was attached. The cars is now wearing new aquamarine blue paint and I"m putting it back together. I'll bet my original hardware was shot. I save everything and these parts some how got by me ( I must have pitched them).

Here is the numbers for the clips I found for the trim on the trunk lip of my 64 Lemans/GTO.
NAPA - BALKAMP 665-1141 They were 8 to a box for around $5.00, I figured these would be $5.00 a piece if I could even find them. For those who need them for the trim piece I am using them for, the threads that protrude through the trunk lip do look slighty long and may need to be cut or ground off, so they don't interfere when closing the trunk lid.
