HELP! I'm probably going to be purchasing an '87 Firebird soon but the engine has to be replaced. It's currently a 305/auto that someone ran without any fluids and it siezed up. I WANT to upgrade, but I'll live with whatever I can get. Anyway, my question is: What engines will mate directly to the current set-up with little or no modifications? I dont care what make or model as long as it's not smaller (or at least less powerful) than the 305. I'm probably getting the car and engine within the next couple of days so any (quick) help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Almost any small block Chevy should fit. You need to talk to some Chebby guys or find a website or magazine oriented towards 3rd & 4th generation F-bodies.

any 87-91 injected sbc should bolt up to the birds intake. just be sure to get a warranty if you get used engine as they are prone to cracking in the lifter valley. mike
