'87 Formula 305 4 barrel engine. Choke is inop, choke idiot light stays on. Choke thermostat is OK. Have large voltage drop at thermostat electrical connection.(10 volt drop) Only have a print for a '84 bird and it shows a choke heater relay. No relay found on the '87, but did find transistor and heat sink assy. Did GM replace relay with transistor? If anyone has a '87 service manual and a scanner I would be very grateful to recieve a wiring print.
Thanks

Update:
Problem has been fixed. After several hours of troubleshooting, without a wiring print. I finally discovered that the choke heater was wired through the electric fuel pump circuit. Now I wonder what the 20 amp fuse labeled "choke heater" does.

Let me guess. No one on these boards could care less about '82 and newer Pontiac's. Now remember, this is just a guess.

I certainly couldnt care less but I found your problem and discoveries mildly entertaining. So what happens when the choke heater fuse gets pulled? The lights go out? (8* )
