My buddy went to Addco for springs and sway bars for his '65 convertible Thunderbird. After they were installed it sat at same ride height or maybe 1" higher. Ride quality was very good. It handled very well; flat cornering combined with a soft ride was a great combination. Yes it did include a rear bar. I can't say what diameters.
He'd decided to go that ride after we modified his '67 Lemans convertible. We used junkyard acquired springs and sway bars. Moog 'Heavy Duty' front springs, Moog 'Cargo Coils" rear springs. Trans Am 1 1/4" front bar and rear bar off a 442. It rode rough but cornered absolutely flat. |

^^^^^ I have this done as well. This was an instant upgrade. I bought it off of Ebay for like 25$ IIRC.

I set early big Fords up with 2.5+ caster drivers side wheel/ +3 passenger side wheel. Both get -.25 camber and 1/8" toe in each side..
The big Ford is a very good handling and riding car so long as everything is straight. You can run a faster 16:1 manual box on them too and use a 13" steering wheel.. The trick with them is getting a good pair of rear springs.. Don't cheap out on the rear leafs they make a big difference! Those early Fords are some of the best looking cars ever made... The 63-64 Galaxie XL has one of the best looking interior ever put inside a car.. Last edited by 389; 04-25-2022 at 05:43 PM. |
