Anyone know what this is? What used for? Got it with some tools. Guy worked on equipment for companies.

No clue. Kinda resembles an I-beam trolley. Some sort of chain block or hoist component?

I will measure and get comparison pic. I estimate it is roughly 7 inches across the side. Maybe 3 inches wide.

My first thought was some type trolley or something to use to lower or lift something with.

Well, it's obviously made to run along square tubing or track of some sort. The flared ends tells me it's meant to be installed and uninstalled frequently, probably in the field. The loops says to me it's meant to be towed along, or to tow something along.

To me it looks like it's designed perhaps to support cabling along some linear path .... like what you see supporting cabling for overhead crane systems. Perhaps the flares are there to smooth transition from one support section to the next.
