old craftsman belt driven bench grinder
My Granfather bought it new in 1950. Has a wire wheel on one side, fine grind on other. The electric motor is smoking now and the brace that you use to guide the item you are grinding broke off, twice. Its cast Iron. I have seen the newer one piece units and they seem to Really vibrate a lot. If I was to buy a new one. Are there ones that are well balanced and will not vibrate off everything on the workbenches??

There's no vibration of my wheels-on-motor-shaft grinder. But it has two grinding wheels, not a wire brush.

Same here, my Craftsman grinder is probably 25 years old ... coarse wheel and fine wheel, seem to work fine. Balance problems are usually in the wheels, not in the grinder.
