Default Wanted 2:56 posi carrier for 68 Bird 8.2 rearend

Wanted 2:56 posi carrier for 68 Bird 8.2 rearend. My car is only going to be driven gently so easy cruising at 75 mph is what I desire. I also have a barely used Auburn posi with a new Yukon 3:42 ring / gear set installed on it that I might trade for yours depending on condition (plus or minus a few bucks).

Thanks
OJ

Just incase you are interested I have a open carrier with 2.56 ring and pinion gears from a 65 Pontiac lemans I would be willing to sell for 125.00 plus shipping. I live in the twin cities if you want to come and get it. 763-913-9573 is my phone number and leave message and I will call you back. If you are not going to drive the car hard then this should work fine for you.

Thanks but I have a 2:56 open that was originally in this rearend. They seem to be plentiful, but the posi carriers for this gear ratio aren't.

Regards,
OJ

Actually I think it's a 1 series posi for 2:56 gears. GM did make them, but you don't see them very often. Check out this video:

HIGH Ratio Pontiac 8.2 carriers were built for 2.56 & 2.78 gears.
All of the High Ratio STT carrier were 2 pinion cone style.
There is an early version, as well as the Late PONTIAC 8.2 version which was machined with 1/16" larger diam ring gear holes for the LH thread ring gear bolts (late '69 production through '72).

My '69 came with a 2.56 and posi. I always thought it was a strange combination. Was probably built that way for Wisconsin snowy winters.
The first owner did tear it up pretty good.
