1977 W72 option Pontiac 400 with matching auto trans
Factory 1977 W72 option 400 with TH350 transmission. Came out of a Trans Am. I never tested it as I purchased it from someone who didn't know how to install it in his Nova.
Correct factory chrome valve covers Correct 17057266 carburetor Correct early style W72 intake manifold Correct early 557 casting (78-79 W72 had the 988 casting) Correct 6X-4 heads Correct Y6 block code $1500 Located in Island Lake, IL Untitled by Jonathon Randolph, on Flickr Untitled by Jonathon Randolph, on Flickr Untitled by Jonathon Randolph, on Flickr Untitled by Jonathon Randolph, on Flickr |

Interest has died off on the engine so I’ve been wondering what I should do with it lately.
Keep waiting for a buyer? Ditch the transmission and throw the 400 in my ‘79? (set aside the original engine) Sell the engine in pieces? (Part our the engine) What would you do with this engine? I’ve had online offers and interest messages but not one person has showed up to make a legitimate offer. |

It's a 557 block, so no interest in a high performance build, although these will take 450HP all day long properly prepped. Other than for restoration, nobody want these.
The 6X-4 heads are desirable for cheap CR bumps in 455's The carb is a great one with a jet and orifice change. The valve covers are desirable if not pitted and dinged.

I might be interested. Just picked up a 69 convertible I am thinking about just buying an engine vs building one.

I'll give you $20 for this plastic connector in the vacuum line from the back of the carb to the vacuum advance. I see in your one pic it's still there. It's a spark retard delay orifice I need. You can carefully sandwich it between two pieces of cardboard in an envelope and mail it.

Do you know the code on the trans? Is it the # match to the engine. I might be interested in that.
