Stainless steel valves
On assembled heads can you take a magnet to determine wether your valves are SS. On my heads the magnet sticks to intake valves but not exhaust.

Yes, all depends on the grade of stainless.

The higher the nickel content in the stainless steel, the less the magnetic it is.

Another consideration when valve shopping is if the valve has a good chrome plating to it or if it has just a ware prone flash chrome plating.
