Default WTB: Unobtainium battery cable clips 70-71 bird

Looking for a set of battery cable are harness routing clips that mount on the engine mount to block bolts and hold the battery positive cable as it routes up to the starter.

Hard to find bits indeed.

Part numbers are 481216 for the front and 478655 for the rear of the mount.

Please PM me if you have any that you are willing to sell.
Rob

This is a picture of the driver side front clip on a 1970 Trans Am. I do not have a picture of the rear one.

Thanks for the pic HFR!

Yep - Those are the little rascals that I'm trying to find. I need two sets for my birds.

Found the pictures of the clips alone.

I wish there was an easier way to search one's attachments (mine is over 2300).

Are you sure these are '70-71 only? My '74 looks to have the same clip that holds the positive battery cable on the drivers side engine mount. I also have a 1976 400 that I pulled from a Formula that has two of these on the drivers side. Seems likely any Pontiac engine bird would have them.

No- I'm not sure of the date range when these cable clips were used. I just know that they were on the 70 RAIII and 71 455HO engines and that mine are missing.

3tas4me - So do you have a set for sale??

I'm converting my 70 formula to the RAIII exhaust system and will need a third set for that car as well.

Rob

I don't have any for sale, but I think you could find them on almost any Pontiac V8

Default Clips

I have found the foward clip used on the 71 and 72 Lemans two barrel cars. But It is not mounted to the block under the first motor mount bolt hole. It is bolted to the block in the bolt hole in front of it closer to the fuel pump. It is usually hard to see covered with grease and road grime. On these years they routed the cable down the front of the motor, not like the 70 Abody V8 non ram air car that went through the tube between the exhaust manifold. If you look at the clip it has two tabs in the top at either side. These lock it in place against the raised casting of the block where it mounts. Keeps it from turning I guess. The other longer clip used on the rear motor mount bolt hole is like the one they repro at Inline Tube. In the pics attached, one clip has the rubber coating removed.

So, from what I can see...
The front clip, Group 2.343, PN 481216 (or 1484897), was used on F-body '70 RAIII/IV; A- and F-body, '71 455HO and all '72s.
Rear clip, Group 2.343, PN 478655 was used on A- and F-body '70 RAIII/IV and '71 455HO.
