So my buddy is still ragging on me telling me I could buy the worlds nicest GTO for what I am putting in this tempest but that doesn't bother me too much. I plan to modernize it a good bit but have it only look like a mild resto mod from the outside. With that said someone along the way has already removed the chrome that ran along the fender creases and door to the back of the car. Mine is a Tempest custom so it has the trim across the gas door panel which I plan to keep but I am on the fence about deleting the front fender stripes. The three little strips of chrome that are just behind the wheel. Since the top moldings already gone should I delete them too or have them rechromed? What about the aluminum trim around the door and quarter posts? Have it polished and reinstall it or leave it off. I wanted 15 inch wheels with poverty caps and redline tires but my wife saw a GTO with 18 inch torq thrusts with the magnesium centers and she is in love with that look so I guess that's what I'm doing on that end.

I'm in the same lake. I'm restoring a 64 Tempest Custom also that for all intense purposes should've went to the crusher. I've changed the frame full one piece floor toe boards trunk pans quarter skins inner and outer rockers all the wheel houses. The doors were solid but needed minor corner repairs. The trunk lid is crap with all the rear lip rust. I've decided to replace it with a bolt on fiberglass lid from VFN. I located a real nice hood that was stored by a friend for close to 30 years after replacing his with a GTO hood.

Had to repair lower fender parts. The only reason I'm doing it is I'm a Pontiac guy and couldn't see it go to the crusher and I'm able to do all the work myself. If I had to pay someone it would not have been realistic. I'm not doing it for an investment either. Good luck on your project. Scott
