SD bath tub intakes reproduced?
I sure would like to see somebody work with whomever owns Randy Williams' molds and patterns to get these released:

But gentlemen of your status in life should be doing it just for the fun of it, right?

You'll just have to wait until one of the repros pops up for sale and then jump on it quickly:http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...ghlight=radius

B-Man that is sweet,
unfortunately that intake will never be in my budget, original or repop. I will just have to settle for a wenzler someday. Right now I will play with the dominator. Mark

They're neat, alright.
Not two grand neat, however. |

I turned down $2500 for this one a few months back.
I think they're neat enough to throw down a few hard-earned bucks for one. |

At that price, even Schlocky will agree that it makes sense to knock out reproductions.
Ask Larry Wenzler. One of these days, when Lynn McCarty gets those V heads to the market, I'll see about casting up some reproduction V injector manifolds. Last edited by Scott M; 10-07-2009 at 09:55 PM. |

That is pretty cool but not $2,500 cool. Plus it wouldn't fit under my hood

No way, a low rise offy with the smallest air cleaners I can find clear by about 1/8 of an inch. That intake looks at least 1-2" taller.

You can't really tell but look at how high the cowl is compared to the air cleaners. The centercaps on the air cleaners are only 1/2 -3/4" tall

The carbs fit under the hood of my '64 GTO with a couple of inches to spare, no fiber spacers under the carbs only a gasket. Not a lot of room, but it's still possible to fit something in there to filter out the bigger stones. Here's a shot of Tom's setup that's an actual factory intake with NASCAR 750 AFBs, it looks like he's running some heavy screening in those stacks. |

So, maybe the guy who spent $700,000.00 on Randy Williams' old stash, presumably with these bathtub molds and patterns included, will start to consider reproducing them.
Hope springs eternal.

I'd be interested to know about the difference in performance between a standard 2X4 intake and the bathtub. I'm guessing bathtub runs better since it appears it mixes air/fuel better before heading into the motor? Would a bathtub setup fit under a 62 big car hood?

I once did a pair of 750cfm AFBs for a fellow with a 496 cubic inch engine. He ran them on a dyno first with an 859 intake and then on a bathtub. The bathtub barely produced more horsepower but it flattened out the torque curve considerably. Look at the post in the Race section about the 535 cubic inch engine (this is another motor not the same one), and his dyno sheet, and you can see the flattened torque curve he got.
I don't know about fitting under the hood of a '62 but they will fit under a '63. The air cleaners have to be really short though since there isn't much clearance at all. The fellow who owns the car with the bare intake has an SD hood scoop on his car and he ruined one of the Corvette air cleaners because it stuck up just enough that one of the top fins caught on the edge of the hole cut for the scoop when he closed his hood. He couldn't figure out how to get it loose so finally just yanked the hood open and it bent that air cleaner up pretty badly when he did. Once those air cleaners get bent up they are done, you can't get them looking nice again. Last edited by 61-63; 06-27-2016 at 09:27 AM. |

Somebody ought to reproduce those alternator brackets, too.
