No, not this time - if it was Sundance I would love it.

81 was kind of a strange year...they "jacked" with a lot of small stuff to make it different..

The design of the 7" snowflakes was changed but STILL 7".

The Turbo wheels shrunk to 7 1/2"...possibly for anticipated used on 82's (if the Turbo motor lived on)

I'm thinking that 7" and 8" snowflakes were left natural (no paint) unless gold color was spec'd....

It appears the 1981 TA 305 automatic was an export car only. Never saw a 1981 US TA with automatic and 305, only a few 1980s. Likewise the only 4 speed 305 TAs I've seen here were brought in from USA. It seems no one broke out the export numbers.

Only the '81 natural (silver) colored Turbo wheels & the white '81 Nascar Pacecar Turbo wheels were 7 1/2" versions. The Gold turbo wheels for '81 were still 8" just like in '80. In the early '80's I had a whls deal on Goodyear Wingfoots & NCTs & ordered a bunch of 255/60's for myself & T/A buddys. Ended up doing a lot of hands on break down these tires/wheels as we wouldn't let the tire store guys take the lugnuts off with impacts, & a racer buddy had a nice tire machine.

Always liked the 81 version of the 15x7's snowflakes with open spots they didn't look as clunky as there predecessors. with changes to the brake calipers & mastercyl, it seems several new features were being readied for the '82's. I've also heard the 7.5" Turbo wheels wheels were fitted early on the '82 prototypes.

Which begs the answer to the Qs:
- How where the Canadian cars documented?
- Are they counted on any Canadian Pontiac clubs, forums, GM archives?

I have a "survivor" lower mileage 81 Y84 and pretty sure it has it's original 7 1/2" gold Turbo wheels.......also sure I have another set stashed away and they are gold (original paint) 7 1/2" Turbo's,as well...

Perhaps the ones you found were 1980 leftovers?

Left over from 1980 production.

At the end of the 1980 model year (July) some parts (left over) that were the same or similar were carried over & used up on early built 1981 cars...

Have a had a BUNCH of Turbo wheels. Besides breaking down tires & wheels on my friends original 81's, when their cars were relatively new, pulled all the nice 8" Turbo's & snowflakes I could find n Pick-N-Pulls all through the 90's. At that time, could buy them in the Pick-N-Pulls for a little over $10 a piece. The bevel on the edge of the 15x7.5's is easy to spot, I eventually had enough 7 1/2's that I quit pulling them.

I DONT THINK ITS THE CASE OF THIS 81 TRANS AM Y84 BECAUSE WAS PRODUCE ON FEBRUARY 1981 AND THE CAR COME WITH OUT WS6 AND I HAVE DOCUMENTED COMING WITH N90 7" WHEEL CAST ALUMINUM FROM FACTORY

I COPY THE SEGMENT FROM

http://www.2gta.com/1981ta.html

"All Trans Am's were fitted with P225/70R-15 steel belted radial tires regardless of which suspension package was fitted. The base cars were equipped with either 7" wide steel Rallye II's or cast aluminum snowflakes. Those with the optional WS6 or WS7 (without rear disc brakes) suspension packages recieved the 8" wide snowflakes or turbo cast aluminum wheels. For some reason Pontiac decided 1981 would be the year to break tradition and not offer the Limited-slip rear differential as standard equipment."

To Change a little bit the discussion about wheels and tires the original post about the 1981 Trans Am Orange Metallic the pictures show a great condition low millage car and very rare color (maybe not to much desirable but rare and low production)
This car worth the $52,500 asking price??? or maybe $50K or $40K???
How much will be Survivor Low Millage 1981 T/A Y84 WITH SHAKER HOOD LIKE MINE???????
and where really the market go to the really desirable SURVIVOR T/A like 1977-78 T/A SE 4-Speed or in general any 4-SPEED with 400 Pontiac engine?????? or Special Edition T/A with "X" ON VIN NUMBER????? or the original car of this discussion its over price??????
