Default 80 pace car wrong steering column

Sorry for the previous post I uploaded the wrong pic

I just bought an 80 pace car and I just realized the tilt wheel is from an older trans am ( see Pic) What year? I think 1977 or less

There is no provision for high beam or cruise control.

If I do not want to change the column can I wire in a floor-mounted dimmer switch to the dimmer (1977 or earlier) that was supposed to go with the correct column?

I have the 1980 dimmer switch wired in but loose hanging to the floor.

The floor mount dimmer just screws to the floor so yes it should be pretty simple to add it. The carpet has a grommet and cuttout but you can easily put it right on top. I assume the car has been restored. I have seen a lot of columns with the tilt mechanism shot, I would surmise why it was swapped in the first place.

The current tilt column would not be that hard to swap to the correct detailed '80 tilt column then nothing has to rigged, or if you end up later selling the car, explained down the road. In running my specialty core business, i personally pulled over six hundred 2nd Gen tilts, & could walk you through the R/R process. Interested in a swapout, let me know, have several '79 & 80 tilts.

Default Thanks

ol pinion head

This morning I was thinking the same way why not just rebuild it correct.

That definitely is the best way.

Can you send me a PM with a phone number so we can talk about it

Thank You
