Thanks Mike - I'd have to agree.

Here's one of mine at our local cruise. The owner of the host restaurant (The Chickenburger in Bedford NS) hired a photographer and we all got some great pics of our rides.

I took some photos of the cam box from Melling. Here are the specs.

Good Morning All

Does anyone have a factory picture or original picture of a 1972 GTO 455 HO rear decklid decal? I need to scan it find out original measurements from the side and from the bottom. Any information would be great. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the good picture Boss. Part number is a spot on match. How did you go about putting it on your car?

The Sundance Orange GTO pic that Boss posted is of my old car. I applied that decal to my own measurements - 3/4" up and 3/4" over, from the bottom corner of the deck lid to the last period in "H.O.".

Here's a link to a FACTORY APPLIED "GTO H.O." decal on a ducktail spoiler equipped '72 WW5 GTO.

Oh, and welcome aboard, nhpontiac72.

How about posting up some photos of your car?

Thanks for the warm welcome and the link Lloyd. I, myself, do not have a '72 but am helping a friend try to get this scarce decal reproduced. He has a '72 but unfortunately without the ducktail spoiler. I will post some pictures of what I have here when I get a moment. Thank you for the information.

Gotcha.

With some careful measurements of a correct NOS "GTO H.O." decal, one could actually use a correct repro "GTO" deck lid decal plus a correct "H.O." '71 Judge rear spoiler end decal and make it happen.

Just an FYI . . .

That's what he was thinking but we were both skeptical about the "H.O." from the spoiler being the correct size. Good to know.

Sorry - I meant to type that one could use the "H.O." portion of a correct '71 Judge rear spoiler "455 H.O." decal.

I dug one each of my NOS "GTO H.O." and my "455 H.O. decals out to verify, and indeed the "H.O." portions match EXACTLY.

I could be persuaded to offer one of my NOS "GTO H.O." decals as a pattern for a correct repro. Would need some really strong assurances that I'd get my NOS decal returned undamaged, though.

Might could see if PY'er "165th" (Greg San Marco in San Antonio) could be persuaded into making this decal repro, as he's done a FANTASTIC job on the '70-'72 Trans Am stripes already.

I was going to try and task Jim Osborn with the job and see if he could simply scan an original and get everything he needs from that.

Mine came from Lloyd - he's the source!

In a pinch, it's good to know that I can use the H.O. from the spoiler decal with a front fender decal and get the placement right.

Couple of things to mention, nh . . .

1) From what I've gathered through the years, Jim Osborn's repros aren't that great.

2) The fender (or 1/4 panel) "GTO" decal is larger than the correct deck lid decal.

Just a couple of "words to the wise" . . .

You guys would know more than I would. This deck lid decal has been driving me nuts for awhile. It's a relief to finally get some where with it.
