If they offered them in anodized black I would be in.

It wouldn't be hard to have them done by someone specializing in anodizing aluminum...
I had mine polished.....just takes a little extra effort and $ to stand out in a crowd.
Send a few e-mail to a few companies near you offering the anodizing services along with a pic or two of the pulleys. Should garner you a few quotes in no time.
Just my worth...

Default WE'VE MADE THE 25 ORDER MINIMUM!

O.K. Men.....
According to my tally....unless someone backs out, we have the 25 orders to qualify for the 15% discount.
I'll notify CVF Racing and find out where to go from here.
A big thanks to all who are participating.....especially those members buying multiple set to help meet the 25 order minimum.
These will be available to all Pontiac lovers for a reasonable price now as they are making them a regular stock item after the group buy became successful.
AGAIN.....THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED!

I need to figure out the impact of going to a 5.8" power steering pulley from the stock 7-1/8" one on my car. I'm replacing the box and pump right now so it might be a good time to pull the trigger on this.

From their site:
"This is a 1 groove, V-Belt power Pontiac power steering pump pulley. Fits keyed shaft for Big Block Pontiac. Designed to be used with stock power steeering bracket
Shaft Diameter: 5/8" (.625)
Pulley Diameter: 5.8"

Curt,
What size is your crank pulley currently?
What size is your water pump pulley?

The crank is 8" and the water pump looks to be about 7". It's an A/C car too (4-3/4").

Curt,
Your water pump is currently being driven at 114% of crank speed...the new pulleys will drive it at 127% of crank speed.
Your power steering is currently driven at 112% of crank speed...the new pulleys will drive it at 136% of crank speed....the alternator will be overdriven as well, resulting in better low/slow speed charging. Hope this helps.
(not sure what the 4 3/4" denotes...
As per the original specs from CVF Racing:
1969 or newer water pump (4.5" from fan mounting flange to timing cover mounting surface)

"not sure what the 4 3/4" denotes"

Thanks and its the pulley dia on the A/C compressor, doesn't look like this one gets replaced.

I talked to AGR Performance, the outfit I purchased the steering box and pump from, and asked about overdriving the pump 136%. They told me that the pump would go into bypass quicker and that there would be no real benefit. He went on to say that it would just wear out the bushing in the pump faster.

There must be a reason that CVF chose this ratio. They don't show a telephone number on their site so I'll shoot them an email.

I looked again on their website and they talk about underdriving the accessories in order to free up some HP. I need to nail this down a little more.

It may or may not wear out the bushing faster than the stock ratio....so if the old one lasted 20 years.....running it the small amount faster than it was run previously "could" make it wear out in 18 or 19 years....
As for "underdriving" things....be very aware that you are already "overdriving" the waterpump from the factory. Slowing things down will likely put you into "overheat" mode at low or slow speed situations. Your call though. Just my worth.

After contacting CVF RACING concerning the completion of aquiring the mandated 25 order minimum....... this was their response:

As soon as the pulleys are finished, We will set up a coupon code for 15% off that will be good on the following products:

The high flow Pontiac kits (single and double groove)
Individual high flow pulleys (Crank and WP)
Pontiac Alt Pulley
Alt Fan
Pontiac PS pulley

We need to wait until the pulleys are loaded onto our website before activating the code so that we can associate the coupon with the right products. The "Coupon Code" will be given to each participant included in the "Group Buy" and they can order from us directly from our website. We will set an expiration date for the "Group Buy" discount code once we get the pulley kits loaded onto the website.
Thank You for your interest in CVF Racing Products.

CVF Racing explained to me that the drive ratio is actually fairly close to stock with the combination of the crank pulley and the power steering pulley. Looks like I'm in.

I'm interested in this, just a few ?'s and some recap.

I didn't see what the stock alternator pulley size was to figure out that % since the CVF is 2.7? I'm in desperate need of better idle charging and that is a big part of my purchase.

Also, I didn't see any weight comparisons, like stock 8" crank vs aluminum 7.9", any #'s out there?

If this setup saves around 5lbs + and increases the alt % by at least 15% I'm in.

Here's what I've read that's in the CVF kit for $116
CVF Crank P = 7.9", WP = 6.2" & Alt P = 2.7"

The above pricing is correct...as for weight savings, I'll need to use a more accurate means of weighing the pulleys (besides my bathroom scale). i'll let you know what I find out by the end of the week on the weights. As far as change in charging...we'd need to know the diameters of the pulleys that you are currently running to determine if the new set up will be of any help.

So the aftermarket alt pulley on my 69 GTO is 2 13/16th, or 2.81. Not sure if this is the same size as the stock alt, but if the CVF alt pulley is 2.7 then you get this....

2.84 (8" crank pulley with the stock alt pulley at 2.81)

2.92 (7.9" crank pulley with the CVF alt pulley at 2.7)

2.96 (8" crank pulley with the CVF alt pulley at 2.7)

So the CVF alt setup is 8% overdriven with their crank pulley and 12% if used with the stock crank pulley, sound correct?

FWIW, the March water pump and crank pulley are 5 7/8th or 5.87.

FYI, a local company that does anodizing said it would cost about $80 to anodize the set of pulleys....black in my case.

Mirror Finish Polishing wanted $400 to polish all my pulleys... I had them done locally for $120..... $80 seems to be a fair price to me.
