Default Hood Hinges 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix

Hi, Has anyone used the Reproduction Hood Hinges from Ames for 1964 Full Size Pontiac? My understanding is that these are a 1 year only hinge and are the same as the GTO/Lemans.
I need to replace mine and just looking for some feedback

Thanks, Rich

I knew of someone who used repros on a 66 A body. Not sure where he got them but after a few closure attempts, they started to bend. Years back I had my originals rebuilt, new rivits etc. That an option?

I had my hinges rebuilt by Wilson Antique Car Parts. Hoodhingerepair.com. Very happy with the results. They even have coating or pant options if you want.

I also agree with using Wilson. They did a phenomenal job for me on restoring my hood hinges on my '64 GP. Better to use the original stuff than some repop. I have heard mixed reviews on the new hinges...most of them are made in China and are junk.

You will like him and his work. I tried cleaning up my hinges and fixing them myself. In the process one of the rivets popped out and shot across the garage. I knew then I needed help or needed to just replace them. I found Wilson on the internet and there were some good reviews about him on this forum. His turn around time was just as he told me and so was the cost. The hinges came back looking and functioning better than new. He painted them in a finish that pretty closely matched the factory phosphate coating, lubed them up for me, and they arrived ready to be installed. Just all around great experience with Wilson, and I was happy I was able to keep my factory hinges.

Default Pontiac hood hinges

According to Hollander

#152 (Hollander's #)
#391106-7 (assume this is original GM part #)
Olds '65-'66
Olds F-85 '64-'67
Olds Toronado '66-'67
Pontiac '64
Pontiac Tempest '64-'67
Note: Auto wreckers say #127 fits

Which leads to
#127
#3864681-2 (GM #'s)
Chev Malibu '64
Chev '63-'64
Chev II '63-'65

Find it hard to believe the spindly little Chev II / Nova used the same hinges for a few years, but there it is in their interchange manual. Not everything they list is correct, and there are omissions I've found.

In the online PY parts database, it says p/n 391106 is a right hand hinge fitting 1964 full size and 1965-1967 Tempests. p/n 391107 is the left hand hinge for the same cars.
