Default Color sanding and buffing

After months of block sanding, I painted the car last week. I was not planning on cutting and buffing the paint. Figured it's just a race car. Had to sand out one run and a bunch of dust. It sanded fairly easy so I decided to block sand it. What a difference in the shine. I am very happy I took the extra step. Didn't know white can shine so much. Almost to nice to race. Now I have to figure a way to hang the doors by myself. Still have a lot left to finish up.
I sanded out the dust with a hard block and 1500. I then use my air vantage short throw da for the whole panel. 1500 first and then 3000. Them buffed with Wizards mystic cut.

Looks great! When I hung my doors, I used my engine hoist with a chain through the inside sheet metal. Worked awesome.

I did something similar but used a couple ratchet straps from the hoist to the doors. Worked pretty well.

Looks really good. I used a floor jack with some protection at the point of contact ....pretty tricky and don't recommend it unless you have a friend to help.

I painted it with 4 coats of single stage white. Everything is coming out great except for the trunk lid. It is very light weight fiberglass which makes it hard to block sand because of the flex. Have some urethane waves in it.

I used the engine hoist and a ratchet strap to hang the doors. I drilled finish nails to pin the door hinges before I took it apart for paint. That made it a lot easier to get them back on and adjusted right. Still had a little tweaking to do.

Thanks for that info. I have a little white Datsun that I'd like to try my first paint job on...IF I can ever get it running right again.

I forgot about that site. Joined the forum years ago and ordered a few things from them. Can't even remember my user name and password. Thanks for the reminder.

There are/were knowledgeable helpful folks there BUT seems 80% of posts are now political (including owner of site) or extreme bashing each other. What a waste...

I noticed the same thing. I had to look around for posts that didn't feel like the Clubhouse here.

I used a couple of blocks of wood and an atv/motorcycle jack for my doors. Worked really good. I dont have a motor hoist. Looks like the straps may give you a bit of adjustment as well.

Nice work with the paint, its gonna look great when youre finished.

I've known the owner for about 15 years and will tell him about your observations. Hopefully the political posts will cease as people are looking for information not politics. That said, he does have a political forum but very few people are authorized to get into it.

If you were a member from several years ago you can still see the Autobodystore Break Room but any newer members don't see it.

At this point there are only about a half dozen people posting in the Break Room and that's where all the political talk happens.

In regards to Autobodystore, I went through about all of the newer posts and didn't see any evidence of political "banter."

I'll have to go back and look again but I ran across a lot of it. I have been a member for 14 years though and only spent a few minutes the other day so maybe I just happened into that area.
EDIT- Ok, I just followed the link posted above and the political posts were not obvious at all. The only way I found them was to do a search for one particular person that I recalled a post from and it took me to the 'Fight Club' section..similar to our 'Clubhouse'.... Don't know how I happened into that area so easily yesterday....and they are not old threads. Very recent such as the thread about Dr. Seuss and Texas ending the mask mandate. They're only a couple of days old.
It IS funny though that NYtrainer and I went there for the first time in years yesterday (as I discovered later) and apparently both wound up in that section.

I will say that it in no where obvious on the site. I can't even find it unless I search a member that I know posted there. I'm cool with it as long as it doesn't bleed over into the tech forums. It's a free choice.
