Default I need help with the date code on a water pump.

I'm going to show my inexperience here. I have attached a picture of the date code on a 488296 casting water pump. I have always seen them with a letter followed by three numbers with the letter denoting the month, the next two numbers denoting the day, and the last number denoting the year of manufacture. All of that on a tag on one line. As you can see in the photo, this one has three numbers and another line of information with a letter and another number.

I was hoping someone can help me with the date of manufacture on this pump? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, James

"296" casting waterpumps didn't come out to mid '72 model.

The casting above is after the alpha numeric dated "296" pumps were cast, most likely, cast in 1980.

Thanks,

I thought that might be the case, but I wanted to be sure.
