Default Balancing Beads...Anybody tried them?

I was getting some new tires on my truck today and the tire store asked me if I have ever thought about using Balancing Beads. I had not heard of this before, but instead of me trying to explain it, I have put a link below for a company that makes them and the website has the best explanation.

I immediately thought of using these to balance some Honey Combs I have. So I was interested in others experiences with them.

Thanks,

James

I have heard many good testimonials (especially in the truck world) but - for the life of me it seems like snake oil.

Yeah I know. I was too chicken to try it on the vehicle I drive everyday, but I think I might try it on my spare set of honeycombs. I can't seem to get them balanced properly.

Interesting. Never heard of this before.

Some of the last comments on that forum:

"I did email Dyna and they don't suggest anyone with a aspect ratio of 65 or lower use the beads alone. you need reg weights and 3oz of beads."

"I think the beads were meant originally for motorcycles and big off-road apps. So these or any bead I guess will not compinsate for that lateral imbalance. Talks about high speed cornering too,"

I would love to get rid of wheel weights but it doesn't sound like a fit for most of us.

Pretty common to use golf balls in truck tires. Really.

When I was in the commercial tire industry 20 years ago.. We used to use some powder crap called Equal.. Seemed to work as we rarely ever had any complaints.
