You don't have to worry about being able to purchase the #001 2020 GT 500 Lil Jack,
It sold to Barrett Jackson CEO, Craig Jackson, for 1.1 Million. Info below.

VIN number 001 of the long awaited 2020 Shelby GT500 was just sold at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale for a whopping $1.1 million. The buyer was none other than the CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auctions, Craig Jackson. Edsel B. Ford II and Aaron Shelby were on hand to promote the car and the cause its sale benefitted: funding research of Type 1 diabetes in children. This sale contributes to Ford’s $3.5 million in annual donations to JDRF, a leader in the funding children’s diabetes research.

Not a fan of the mustang. Way to 'ricey' looking and the last one I sat in was pretty cramped, and I'm fairly normal size. As for the camaro, I stopped even looking at chevy's decades ago.

In the manual/auto debate, the Hellcat still comes with either as far as I know.

However, if you have never driven a+750HP car with a modern 8 speed, paddle shifted fully electronic trans that has been tuned (programmed) by someone that does that, you can't possibly know how much faster it is than a clutch.

If having the manual makes you feel more 'manly', then go that route.
But be ready to lose. A lot.

A Bhelby BOOSTED Super Snake Cobra only went for 5.5 MILLION some years ago. This is the Boost Section.

Back on Transmissions installed on Boosted Engines.

Except for the Joint Venture Between Ford and Chevrolet, (on the 8 speed and 10 speed auto transmissions) and Neal Chance Transmissions (on Palbykin's GTO) I know little about them.

So Ford was initially making it a Demon fighter, but that didn't quite pan out. Then it was argued that it would be a all around performance car that could be lapped around your favorite road course, but now Ford says they're not interested in setting lap times.

Well damn, what does Ford want to do with it then?

I find it interesting how the Ford guys across various forums argue that the GT500 is a better car than the Demon, as it can do other things than the Demon. Of course it can, the Demon is a drag car, and has been since it was sketch on paper.

That rotary shifter knob is terrible too.

Selling Race Cars for the Street is typically Bad Business.

A guy named Colletti (who was head of SVO) tried that deal and lost money on every program he came up with. The Lightning Trucks, the Mustang SVO, The Boosted (S/C) Mustang, etc. What a waste of money.

Ford spent money to build the Le Mans Ford GT Race cars because Mr Ford wanted to repeat the Le Man's 1st win against Ferrari in 1966 some 50 years later in 2016.
And they did By a full lap on the Le Man's course. 8.46 miles ahead of the 2nd place Ferrari. They will make money on selling the new version of those V-6 ECOBOOST Race Cars to the collectors like Jay Leno and others.

So setting lap times only applies with the NASCAR stuff and the Le Mans cars and even those Le Mans cars are not racing to prove what they wanted to prove in 2016.

So no Demon Fighter, No Corvette Killer, etc. Better to sell another Million per year of the ECOBOOST Trucks.

Does Ford still pump engine sounds through the stereo? And if so, will this car have that?

And for that matter, does Ford still have the "idiot needle" for oil pressure - its not an actual variable guage, its a needle that simply moves to the middle of the range as long as oil pressure is detected... Do they still do that?

I agree, I just though it was interesting that the closer the GT500 gets to production, the attitude from Ford seems to change.

When Shelby was alive we built several one off cars including the one in my avatar.
Basically just 'Toy" projects for Shelby as What If cars. Considering that the original Cobra went for 15 million, why not tag along on Shelby's History.

But Shelby is gone and Steve McQueen is gone. Does not mean that some Ford guys do not like the old History Car Concepts.

The GT500s will sell just fine.
