Have these side moulding parts been reproduced yet?
I am hoping someone knows where to find parts for this type of side moulding. Has this been reproduced yet?
Thanks, James |

Those you have pictured are aftermarket moldings. The chrome part gets riveted to the body then the rubber insert was pressed into the channel.
I had rolls of that style rubber insert that I tossed out years ago, who knew anyone would be looking for it 20 years later? Your best bet is to check an old body shop's inventory.... they may have what you need. |

Thanks for the reply Steve,
So this would have been a dealer installed option? Thanks, James |

my Formula had the same added molding as yours. Here is a source for it if you were looking for the replacement of what you have:

If you are planning on a repaint, I'd dump those things in a heartbeat.
We used to drill and pop rivet those things to all our new car inventory only to watch the rust bubble from under them (and around the holes) a few years down the road. That was in the 70's...

Well I didn't plan on putting them back on, so I guess their gone when the times comes.

Well I'm glad I asked. To all who replied, Thanks. I have to agree that it does break up the view of the body quite a bit. I am in the process of rounding up some of the missing or worn trim items for my car before I begin its restoration. I'm glad I have one less issue to deal with now.

Might ALSO be a good time to discuss Formula hoods with holes hacked in them for a shaker?

Ah, you just can't beat 71 fenders with TA vents, a formula hood, shaker, spoilers, foilers, side pipes..., yep, that is pure class!

My friend is reproducing those side bump strips...correct styles and colours but in stick on rather than rivet on....I suppose you could rivet them on if you have a wish to destroy your car, lol.
He's been working on these for a while..... try his website - www.usgmsp.com
