I guess what I was trying to figure out was if price breaks were given (maybe so other cars could be completed earlier) or did you plan on having it out of sight for so long.

H for R,

Ok, I Understand. My original plan was to get it in a 1 to 1 1/2 year time frame. Unfortunately there were just too many things that took longer than we had anticipated. Saving the original motor took a considerable amount of time and expense. Steve has had some issues with quality on the parts. He has had to returned several and had to wait for replacements that he is happy with. We have had a long wait for the AC evaporator box to be restored. Plus others.

that it has stretched out a little has not been a shock to me. We are not too far off the plan. Because I wanted the restoration to move along given what had to be done, we did not discuss a different cost structure.

Thanks,

James

It has been a while since an update. At this point the engine compartment is finished and we have been able to bring the patient back to life. This is the first time this car has run in 15+ years. Attached is a Video of it running and the exhaust note.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KTx...ature=youtu.be

Also here are some pictures showing current progress. We are still waiting for a couple of parts, but I am hopeful that we will be finished by the end of the year. I need to start a thread on the new project, the 73 SD 455 formula. Steve and Crew are already working on it.

Enjoy,

James

UPDATE

I finally made my way up to see Steve and to check on all my projects. The main purpose of this trip was to drive the formula and to develop my punch list. The car looks fantastic and I really want to thank Steve and his crew for an outstanding job!

*Shameless Plug Alert*
Also notice the Trim Rings...They are the first production delivery of my trim ring project. I think they look great as well. Also Wheels by Harold here in KC.

Please enjoy the photos.

I saw that Regatta paint in person and that color, along with the quality is amazing.
It has a different hue that what the pics show - even prettier shade. I didn't even think it was the same car.

Looks great...fun thread to look at. That project looks like 1,000 hours X 60.00 per hour ,plus parts, machine work ,paint and materials ,interior...etc.. My wife's cousin just won best in class at the Boston World of Wheels last week with a 70 GTO conv. Said he just finished a 172,000.00 restoration... 5 years . Have a ton of fun with your sweet ride !!

Glad to see it's completed and to have had a small part in it. Looking forward to the S.D. now.
