Default Caltracs arrived

Mr UPS man was kind enough to drop off brand spankin new caltracs.

Only issue- my Qa1's have an eyelet bottom mount and the lower plate has a stud hole. Ordered a conversion kit from Summit.

Rear should be dropped off Friday, probably have it back in a few weeks.

While the rear is receving surgery, I will sand and detail the underside of the trunk, wheelwells and repaint with eastwood chassis paint.

John

I wish, I've been married for 9 years and my wife is jealous of the Ventura! She calls it every name that has 4 letters! LOL But I told her when I met her I'm into cars and in the end the car will still be here and I hope she is to. JD

Better be careful! You may find that if she's gone, you may only have half the car you use too! Women can be evil creatures.

Someone told me one time that I was lucky...........they must have been right My wife loves cars.......our first date we went to a car show. She loves drag racing, car shows and knows more about cars than some guys I know. She doesnt mind me spending money on the cars as long as I dont go overboard or spend more than we can afford to spend.........usually if I mention needing something she tells me to go ahead and get it.
She even had a Pontiac at one point before we met......a '79 Firebird Formula

Just painted everything underneath over the weekend, bewtween now and saturday I should be able to get everything in and mocked up so i can place the perches and set the pinion angle.

After that- tack the perches, bring rear back to fab shop to have ends welded on and spring perches finall welded and boxed. Then it will go to the machine shop to be set up.

I looking at a full two weeks before the rear is ready to paint then reinstall.

John

Rear was in, perches are located and tacked in place. Underneath is painted, offset hangers are installed, one tailpipe has been sectioned and repainted for added tire clearance.

Next is to have the gas tank narrowed 3 inches on each side, seal inside, repaint outside.

This is a much bigger project than anticipated. Should be done in 2-3 weeks

Rear is out being final welded. Got the new bottom spring plates from Calvert (for eyelet bottom mount). When mocked up I only had about 1.5" of shock travel. I made shock mount extenders for the bottom mount. Will now have 3-4" of travel.

Hope be moving under it's own power in a few weeks.

Rear is all welded and set up. Axles need to go back to moser for an additional 1" of spline. Gas tank is being evaluated for the cost to narrow it.

Finally got all the required AN fittings to move regulator and mount external fuel pressure guage.

Coming together slow but sure. It'll be together in time for the drag radial snow tires.

Yes, rear is in car and painted. Axles are back, fuel system updates are complete. Bought a used set m/t 295 DR, had them swapped over. M/T appear taller than the equiv size BFG.

Waiting to here from gas tank guy who is narrowing my oem tank. I should have some time today to install backing plates and axles and test fit tires.

I can also, prob. finish the shifter swap too, switched q-stick to megashifter. I think I might end up with a b&m pro ratchet.

By this time next week it should be moving.

Thanks for the interest.
John
