Default VIN location on 3-speed manual?

I have a '69 GTO with the base 3-speed manual transmission. I believe it to be the original transmission but would like to verify it. Do these have the VIN stamped on them like the Muncie 4-speeds do? I was shocked to see the FoMoCo logo cast on the case, but have read that this is correct for '65-'69....

Fomoco trans is correct. There was no VIN on my 68 3 speed trans. Check your build date against the trans date 9C18 (March 18,1969) to see if it's prior. If so, it most likely is the original.

The transmission date is a good match. All the various engine casting dates are April and May and the car was built in the first week of June. Thanks for the reply!
