Sun visor questions
My sun visors have a mind of their own depending on what the car is doing. The drivers side one will swing without any effort so if I accelerate hard and it is down in front, it will swing and hit me in the head . The Passenger ones comes down on its own.
So my question is, if I get new brackets, will this resolve both issues or does it have to do with the screw that holds the visors on? I believe the driver one can be resolved with a new bracket but unsure about the passenger one. |

The tension screw keeps the visors from tilting down. The bracket keeps them from swinging back. The only ones worth a crap are the GM brackets.

Be aware that there's variations in the repro sunvisors and brackets, not all follow original style with screw, others have used a bush insert which is then different to mount. For a while you couldn't even get new visors that were factory style so the brackets were made to suit them, while also working on originals, and probably being perfect for neither as a compromise. I'm not sure what brand they were but I had a repro set of brackets test fit into the roof and the holes one way which left the visors angled down wards slightly. A similar set that appeared identical to look at was completely different mounted up and perfect. I don't recall the brands of either, but likely MCI or OER, 10 yrs ago. The stock grub screw actually works like a fender U-nut retainer, as you screw it in it squeezes the inside closer which has the shaft inside for the mounting bracket. The surface for the shaft can become worn smooth and undersize at commonly used angles, which is why loose at some more than others.
