Default wheel studs

Can anyone tell me what the thread was for the 78-80 grand prixs wheel studs?
Is it 7/16, 12mm, 1/2 or 14mm?

Thanks

The stock studs on my 78 GP LJ are definetly 7/16-20. I know because I just recently got some new lug nuts for some new wheels I purchased. I don't know off-hand if different handling packages were available or if they would have different studs.

Gee, I thought this forum had died!!
They went metric in the 80's, but the first years were good ol SAE.

ahhh--2 choices
I guess my 79 would be 7/16- right? or was that 12mm?
I don't have the original lugs, or at least I don't remember where the heck they'd be. I have chrome lugs that have gone bad and would like to replace with new ones. I guess the only thing I could do is find a 7/16 nut and see how it fits?
thanks again

1979 are most likely 7/16. Seems like the '80 Lemans I had was also SAE, but it's been 15 years since I sold that car.
I think GM lugs were totally metric by 1981, except for B-bodies and trucks.
I've seen some late 80's squad cars (Caprice) that had 1/2 lugs.

Too much guessing going on. Guessing doesn't help anybody.
78-81 GP had 7/16" X 20 threads.
The lug nut varies whether you have std steel wheel, Rally wheel, wire wheels, or aluminum wheels.

Are you the original owner? Seems to me they were changed. The GM parts catalog shows SAE at least through 81.
