65 Car dash gauges?
I went from a warning light dash, to a gauge type. When I turn on key. The oil and temp. Gauge needles sweep to the high position? Does it matter what side the pink(hot) wire lands on the gauge? Also my fuel gauge is reading full? Thank isn't full.

First of all besides being a 1965, what make and model car is it? Did you change the sending units on the engine?

65 Catalina 2+2. I've changed out both sending units. Even when the sending units are unplugged the gauges read to the far right. The dash bezel is grounded.

Yes it does. It matters a bunch.
Should be able to ohm test the + stud and sending unit stud to ground and see which is which. The + stud should have more resistance to ground than the sending unit stud. The ohm difference between the two will be equal to the ohm reading of the resistor on the back of the gauge, and/or thats the ohm reading across the two studs. Clay |
