Default rear end ratio for 81 Nascar

Does anyone know if they put a specific rear end in these Nascars or know of a way I can find out, I know how to turn the tires on my car to find out but I'm trying to order a torque convertor and the guy needs to know my ratio and my car is in the body shop a good distance away. Just thought i'd try before I had to go out there to check, Thx in advance for any replies, DC

Hi!
Both my 1981 Trans Am Special Edition Turbo and my old 1981 Trans Am Limited Edition NASCAR Turbo had 3:08 rear gears.
I believe all Turbo cars with AC got the 3:08. At least, the WS6 cars did.

Hope this helps,

George

I think the only turbo cars that didn't have the 3.08's were the actual pace cars used in the races. I beleive they had mid 2's for gearing.

My turbo came with the 3.08's also so it looks like that ratio came standard.
