Raybestos makes kits, but it will only fit on an original master cylinder. Need to find a Raybestos dealer near you.

You can have a new ACDELCO 18M1878 Master Cylinder at rockauto.com for $32.

I have bought a couple at NAPA. If its a numbers matching thing White Post Restorations does a phenomenal job restoring them. No idea where to get a kit.

Yep, numbers matching, that's the second time I've heard "White Post", might as well do the prop. valve too, I'll inquire with them. Thanks!

The advantage of having it rebuilt is that they will install a stainless steel sleeve. Doing this will pretty much eliminate the need to deal with the master cylinder ever again due to corrosion issues.

Correct
I bought a rebuild kit and was going to do it myself but once I disassemble the MC I could see the sleeve was scored.
White post will machine the MC and install a new sleeve as Warren just mentioned
If your sleeve is good you are welcome to have my rebuild kit

I got the master cylinder & prop. valve back from White Post. Before installing I was reading in the GM manual about measuring the brake booster's piston rod measurement. They used tool J 22647 (go/no go gauge). I don't have the tool but wife pushed brake pedal & I measured the booster's rod when it came out, about 1 1/2". Will this be ok to activate the master cylinder? I had the booster rebuilt a few years ago but never thought to measure when I put it back in, I'm guessing the rebuilder assembled back to oem specs.

Push rod length needs to match the depth of the hole in the back of the MC piston. That's with brake pedal up/released.

Slim to none slack/end-play would be perfect. A hair short is better than a hair too long.

Way too short will make for a low brake pedal. Brakes may not lock down before the pedal hits the floor.

Too long will apply pressure/push-in on the MC piston when the pedal is up. A hair is ok as long as the piston seals don't cover or block the fluid intake/return holes in the bottom of the MC bowls.

Hope that makes sense

Ok, then I will measure the protrusion of the rod at rest and then measure the depth of the master cylinder piston. Eh? Thanks!
