How many GP Hurst SSJ's came without sunroof?
Wondering how many 70-72 Hurst GP SSJ's came without the sunroof?
I know the sunroof was part of the std. Hurst SSJ package. These cars are so interesting to learn about. thepontiacman@yahoo.com

I'm here...I'm here!
My guess would be zero officially came from Hurst without a sunroof, however, since Hurst didn't keep worthwhile records, and the fact that they seemed to let a number of things happen in 1972 that were "not by the book", it's possible that a few came through without. I've seen no evidence of an sunroof-less SSJ, but I would never say never. There was a supposed SSJ I knew about back in the early 90's that didn't have a sunroof, but you have to keep in mind that some dealerships were doing their own, and anyone who was able to get some emblems & trim could have made their own SSJ. The sunroof would have been the difficult part to duplicate as that was no easy task to install properly. The rest of the SSJ package could have been done by many folks. Hurst used Webasto International Sunroof back then, and they were experts at sunroof installations. So knowing which ones were Hurst produced and which ones were fabricated by someone else is hard to distinguish. And shipping codes don't always answer the question.

Like I said, I'll never say never, especially with the 72's. The 50-012 is authentic, so it was definitely sent to Hurst/WISCO.
It seems to me that Hurst let requirements slide a bit in 1972, so it could be a possibility that they omitted a sunroof when asked by a customer. If it did come from Hurst/WISCO without a sunroof, you'll probably never see any proof in the form of documentation unless there's a note on a build sheet or a Hurst document that came with the car. Preston, can you put me in touch with the person who has this car? And do you have any pictures handy? Could someone have grafted a roof onto it? Are there any signs of the drain tubes on this particular vehicle? Harvey

I believe I saw a 70 with the ssj paint, without the roof floating around on the net. Don't know if it was a legit ssj though.

Boy would I love to get her to recreate that pose in one of my SSJs...kind of a "then & now" side-by-side picture.

This car came from BIG 4 Pontiac-Cadillac in Tupelo MS. We are trying to locate items from that dealership like a dealer trunk emblem, tag, tag surround, key fob, etc. If anyone runs across something ,let me know. I am helping the current owner gather info. and parts.
I have another PHS and pics of a white 72 SSJ that also came from this dealership. It was sold in the late 90's from North AL. I heard this one went to NY area. Anyone know the current owner?

Thanks Mike, I had found that image online already.
Neat image of that dealership in 1969. Nice GP. Too bad it wasn't a pic of the black 72 GP SSJ on the showroom floor. Here is a pic of what the trunk emblem looks like. thepontiacman@yahoo.com
