It's that time of year when the leaves start turning color and the sound of 60's & 70's muscle car engines revving to redline and Wide Oval tires screaming for mercy. Come out to the best muscle car show you'll ever see or participate in! No boring lawn chair bench racing when the real things are duking it out head to head on the 1/4 mile. Even better, come to the event and race your 1955 to 1974 Pontiac (now the '75 -'79 TA's and Formulas are invited with 400 and 455 engines, as well as select 400 A-bodies - see the rules at www.psmcdr.com for rules and information).

Just for clarification, Thursday the 14th is only for early tech-in...no time trials that day.

hey dennis ,just wondering if you think then new wide oval radials would offer better traction than the bias ply. i am thinking of trying a set with rally II rims on my 72 trans am . are the rally II rims lighter than honey combs. thanks.

Hi Mario - I would bet they wouldn't provide any better traction than the bias plys. Radial street tires usually don't bite as hard as the repop Goodyears and Firestones. Rally II's are about 10 lbs lighter per wheel than a Honeycomb, so stick with the Rally II's.

I've always ran this car with the honey combs because that is what is on the build sheet. i may transfer the rally II wheels from my 70 to see if it helps et and mph!

It looks like we are having a nice swan song to our summer up here in Michigan with sunny skies and temps around 80 for the racing. The track will be nice and hot to improve the traction for the bias plys. We invite all who never been to the race to check us out and certainly for all the faithful as well who make the trek to Mid-Michigan Raceway for the annual fun. Dan, Lyndon, and I hope to see you there!

This show is amazing. I drive 5 hours one way ever year. Sometimes I stay for a few hours and have to drive home and I am never disappointed. Few years back on a Friday, I left at 6 am arrived at 11am. Walked around for an hour and drove 5 hours back home to get the kids from school and daycare. It is still amazing to see that many nice cars taking it on at the track. Best hour of my year. See you Saturday

OMG!!!! I cannot believe I have not made it to this event after all these years. It is magnificent. The organizers, The Jensens and Bob Boden - are to be commended. It is MCACN for the drag racing community. Thanks guys! The cars are the creme de la creme of musclecars and all brands are well-represented (this year Pontiac was out in force!) The family atmosphere is truly a reminder that we can all find common ground somewhere, no matter our backgrounds and beliefs. I highly recommend making the trip next year. Now that it is open to cars up to 1979 I'm gonna try and bring the Brown Bomber!

Thanks Ron, Dez, Brad, and Mike! We had "Chamber of Commerce" weather for the first time in a long while and had 122 cars show up. The total count was a little down since we had competition this weekend from the GS Nationals down in Bowling Green, KY and lost 6-8 GS's that normally participate, as well as a few regulars for various reasons. We had a variety of new cars to compete and talked to Dez about his entry for next year (let me know if you have any questions Dez). Fortunately we had no major casualties, but the worst incident was the rear end center section of Paul Glasgo's immaculate Tempest Magnum 400 car splitting wide open in the burnout box. The car looked like it had a swing axle from the 61-63 Tempest after that let go. I sure hope the damage was minor, but the repairs couldn't be in better hands with Paul and John doing the work to fix it (FYI, 12-bolts are allowed).

I wish I had pictures, but Dan, Lyndon and I are running around like chickens with our heads cut off for 4 days, so picture taking is the last thing on our minds. Hopefully some folks can post a few in the coming days.

tickled that the weather was so nice but honestly...it was just salt in my wound! I swear I'll be there next year. BTW...I heard that there was a 401 inch Gremlin available in the early '70s that was capable of 12-30's in stock trim. Anyone know of one sitting around? Glad it all went well. Keep up the good work, boys!

How pristine do the cars have to be to run at this event? I'd love to bring my survivor '67 GTO and have some fun one day but she does have a few battle scars. It's pretty much a legit 95% original unrestored car, placed Gold in the survivor classes in POCI and GTOAA. This biggest exterior flaws are a some paint fade, the tail light panel has a little rust around the lights, and a small dent in the nose panel. Then under the hood is what you'd expect from an unrestored car.

Ducks Goat - Your 67 GTO would be more than welcome at the event. They don't have to be restored trailer queens as many are just nice drivers or unrestored originals like yours.
