Cleaning inside oil breather cap / ATF for PS
Merry Christmas to everyone!!
2 quick questions if I may…. 1st I want to clean the inside of my oil breather cap on my ‘65. 389 Anybody ever do that? If so how did you do it, if at all? 2nd What ATF do you guys use in your power steering reservoir?? Thanks Mike |

Kerosene or even diesel fuel work well for cleaning the breather. Please don't use gasolene.

Mineral Spirits... it's what I have in my parts washer.

Inspect the steel wool inside the cap carefully. I found the steel wool was a bit rusty and shedding bits. I did not want that stuff contaminating a fresh build so I dug it all out and flushed thoroughly with parts cleaner. I now have an empty but correct looking breather cap.
