That was in jest. I hate it when something simple turns into a can o worms. I went thru fiasco with my big block ford. Pulleys wouldn't line up right. Finally pitched a belt, wrapped around trans cooler line, ripped the tank out of a $500 radiator. Had the radiator " repaired". Put it back together and trans cooler leaked into coolant ruined all the hoses, blew a hose running down the highway. The source of all my issues was an aftermarket water pump which all the accessories bolt to. Boss heights were not the same as a factory pump mounting surfaces. Swapped to a stock pump and everything fixed.

Oh...lol...Yes, I get it.
Funny thing is, all of this started with a carb rebuild at least 2 months ago. That morphed into a fuel leak, fixed, then a funny noise up front, changed water pump, then found real source of noise, found that ps belt was wrong width, researched source for correctly sized belt, found that pulley was too narrow for correct belt then found out why...wrong pulley (Chevy) and it's been going on like that for some time now as I tried wrong pulley after wrong pulley.
I hope to wrap this up upon receipt of the 9128 pulley.
Then I'll have at least two pulleys for sale.

FINALLY.... I got the pulley that lines up and fits the .5" belt.
Just for other's benefit that may be going through this same issue-
For my 1968 car, using an 11 bolt, 4.5" water pump, with PS and AC, a combination of pulleys that works is;
PS-9786901
Crank-9790842
WP-9799128
Funny thing is, back on page two of this thread, I already had figured out what pulley I needed but somehow got sidetracked on another number that someone/I thought was correct.

I've gotten where I take a lot of notes and update them as I go along. I've bought the right part twice, and the wrong part twice, more times that I want to remember.

Yeah, I'm going to have to have a liquidation sale soon... Wrong parts sale..lol
by the way, I didn't mean to imply way back on page 2 that I knew which pulley I needed. I did not. It was just a lucky guess... The real moral to this thread is that if you're mixing and matching accessories, first find out what you have then check the manuals for which combinations work together for your application.

Your pulley situation is the equivalent to my dash pad situation. I feel your pain.

I was even rummaging through my "wrong parts" pile this weekend to see if I had a pulley you could use.

A wrecking yard I would visit years ago had a simple return policy. " If the part you bought is not the part you need, you now have an extra"

By the way, the correct alignment illustrated..

Actually, that's the way l look at it but at least one member here, Scott Thelander, volunteered to take the one I got from him back, which was nice as he didn't have to do that.
