Yes I did install the XE274H, but I ran the car before the Tomahawk was installed. I should have went to the track with it that way too.

I guess the only way I can know for sure is to cut the water cross over off on the performer and swap in back on for a couple passes to see actual #'s

I am not trying to sell any Tomahawks. I was just stating what I saw on my slips and what I can feel in the car on the street as compared to how it was in the past.

I do want to get alot of passes on the car to see what it will do with some tuning. then maybe do some port work to the heads.

Don't hate me guys if I caused any confusion, I'm still learning

Patrick

Brian, It is not a daily driver, just a few hundred miles a year. Car shows, cruise nights and the track thats about it.
I wanted to swap to a 4 speed & 355's but I am not consistant with the auto lol

Right now my stall is 24/2600 I didn't think a 3000 would make it much worse on the street.

Is a 2.0?? a bad number at 60' for a 3880 car?
would a 4 hole spacer help with low end?

Thanks Patrick

The 2.0 60ft times are not good. A dual plane intake like the Performer or the RPM would be better. Most of your ET is made in the first half of the track. 60ft can and does make a big difference in ET.

Lethal thanks,no one is calling u a liar,lol...It's just not a accurate assumption, cause u also changed cams, among other things too,By all means cut the water crossover off and run a 1'' 4 hole spacer/with your performer against
the tomahawk u
will be surprised what u see i am sure!!

Grandville, I'll give that a shot and see what happens. Do you think a 4 hole would make a better 60' with the tomahawk?

Also what is the difference between a 4 hole and the open spacer?

slowbird, my old set-up would fall on it's face between the 1/8 & 1000'. It was almost like a drive on the highway in that range of the track. I just quit pulling.

67 455, I am going to try to make it to Norwalk.
If you are there and want to bolt my Tomahawk on and make a few passes to see what it will do I'll be glad to let you.

Again I'm sorry for any confusion I caused.

I will get this car running good sooner or later. Patrick

My pump gas 455 would typically 60' in the 1.81-1.85 range. This was at 4000' race weight. When I packed on some more poundage myself, the 60's dropped to 1.89-1.94.

You know...I'm not thaat good at this race stuff:

My Q-Jet on a Torker 1 did the 1.60 60foot below, and me wonders long & hard what the Tomahawk//Hurricane//Performer RPM//Victor//Aluminum Tri-Power would have done//do. All I gots is this stupid Offyl Dual-Q-Jets as my 2cents towards "Advanced Development".

I missed the development bus somewhere back in Nostalgiaville...and walkin a lamo low-compression road. HIS

This may be covered allready..
But i just sat my Holley 3bbl 1050 cfm carb on my Tomahawk intake and the primary 50cc accel pump hits the gasket flange and if i didnt know and used a thin gasket and cranked it down i most likely would of bent and busted a mounting ear off...

My want to pay attention to the secondary 50cc pump to if you have one..
Something to look out for.

Lethal - Thanks for th eoffer. But my car will be no where near ready to be drivable by Norwalk. My hope is for late winter/early spring. Depending on how, dare I say it, hurricane season goes this year.

Lethal, if you switch intakes back and forth try the Tomahawk with the 4 hole 1" spacer as well. I think you'll get some of that 60 foot time back. I don't live too far from you if I get a chance maybe I can make it to Beaver Springs sometime and we can beat up on some Mustangs. I have an RPM and a T2.

I'll try that Kevin.

I will be at beaver again in July I think it will be the 9th for us-30. I am going to try to slip in a test N tune day in June.

That would be great if you can make it, the more Pontiac's the better. On the 29 my class had 41 cars only 2 were Ponchos

I'm still willing to donate my time & car for this test, if someone will lend me a 'hawk.

Well, I visually compared the Tomahawk to my Torker-I:

1: Plenty of upper-Flange port meat to grind up to the RA-IV intake height.

2: Runners are quite nice.

3: the real value is the Plenum area being better than my spare Torker-I. The areas to be grinded in my torker to match my other Torker (sold with car) were evident with paint, yet the Tomahawk was SMOOTH SAILING for Spreadbore air distribution. I recommend the Tomahawk for performance based on the plenum.

2: Water crossover is the best casting design of all manifolds, I said "you can cut it off because I don't use them", so Spotts will have an optimal crossover availble for an enigne customer.

3: My Torker Flange is beyond RA-IV and it appears the Tomahawk would have issues on the bottoms of runners, just like the Torker Issues.
Spotts indicated that such bottom runner mods did not make power, and could/should be skipped.
------------------------------------------------
My conclusion: I would be wise to get the Tomahawk to save on grinding time&effort to arrive at the plenum/runner/flange goals of my FORMER Torker-I. Tomahawk Plenum floor seems Visually superior. Front runners are taller&narrower on Torker-I. I remain intrigued intrigued to see which item is optimal for the Speadbore Q-Jet.

Motivated to get 68GTO started & running. HIS
