Default A/C Bracket Color?

I usually paint the cast iron A/C bracket that attaches to the head satin black and call it good, but wondering whether originally it was black or engine color? Engine is from a friend's 1966 GTO.

Were all engines delivered in non-A/C condition and then the bracket added when the compressor was installed? Don't think there was anything in place to specify an engine going into an A/C car ahead of time where the bracket would have been in place when engine was originally painted?

The front one you pictured should be natural, but I'm talking about the cast iron bracket that is painted black in the photo I included. It's the one under the compressor that the compressor pivots on. Another shot of one I have around - but don't know if it was original paint or not.

Dang, I'm sorry.

Natural, mine was never painted either engine color or black. Kansas City car.
Until I did the frame off and I painted it cad color.

Never thought of a third choice of Pontiac leaving it unpainted.
