I think someone on PY said it wasn't used until later?
(North maybe?)

The PHS would have the dealer zone and number probably while the Canada one doesn't. (has name though)

Usually the Canada one is better though.

Somebody forgot to order the console!

Love the vintage Playboy air freshner - if you decide to get rid of that let me know - I'll send you a few bucks to mail it to me. I have a car that would be perfect in!

Congratulations on the car - will be beautiful when done!

The PHS invoice just looks more official than those , no big deal at all though.

They listed the wrong Horsepower @ 366 (R/A 3) instead of 370.

Y96 was the Ride & Handling - spring & shock package.
Also known as Option 621
Price for USA = $4.21

No Charge Options / Alternates are usually disclosed on the Canadian Documents.
Yours doesn't list anything concerning tires , so G78 x14 Redlines were standard = PY2 - RC
Whitelines were a no-cost alternate , but those would be listed on your document = PY1 - RD

So car was White
Red interior
Redline tires
Red center caps on hubcaps
Red lower accent stripes

Sounds like they were duplicating the Canadian Flag
Thanks, that’s awesome! One of my question would have been about tires. I often wondered who and why it was ordered as such. The town also was and still is quite small.

I believe it wasnt till the mid 1970s the speed limit switched over to km/h.

the only thing that changed with metric was the dash plate/lens that showed both MPH and KPH, and that started in ....1975??? maybe....I remember cars in the 80's still showing both MPH and Kph, but by then, the KPH had a larger font than the mph.

No way would it have kph in 1969

Pretty sweet car. With all the options I'm surprised it has a column shift! Weird to see no console with buckets and an 8 track.

On that gm of Canada doc it says 3122 exported to Canada. Is that only the tally for the model 242 GTO 's? Seems like a low number of GTO's. It says that on my GMOC doc too but with mine being a judge I thought that was the number of judges exported to Canada.

Thanks to you guys about the Canada mph /kph switch time frame.
It was awful odd that even 70 GTO's built in Canada , and sold in Canada , even had MPH speedo.
The KILO speedo option was only about $1.00

BigD you might find pics of white 69's on www.ultimategto.com website
They have a menu for hunting pictures of specific year color options.
All I have a pic of is a white judge with hideaways and rally 2 wheels. And its on my other computer.
It is a Very Sharp car.

Those type hubcaps are usually very cheap to buy from most guys.
Nobody really wants them , very hard to sell.
You should find a good deal eventually if you need replacements.
I would run the small poverty caps instead - but that is your call.
Naturally rally 2 is going to look the best.

3122 is total GTO / Judge sent to Canada for 69 year model.

Mid 70’s say the arrival of the dual MPH / KM/H speedos in Canada. Actually a lot of US sold cars changed at time too before the US decided not to go metric after all when Reagan got elected.

3,122 was the number of 69 GTO hard-tops sold in Canada (including Judges).

A part of history that seems to be missing is the retail pricing of Canadian cars and their options. In general prices were 20-24% higher than in the US (based on a handful of original window stickers).

I paid about $300 or 400 for the set of those wirewheel covers in near NOS condition (early take offs) about 10 years ago.

Be carful to not buy the identical looking 15” versions used on the big cars.

Getting the car pretty much stripped. Should be able to use most of the body panels with some patching. Except the ps rear quarter is fairly rough and has a lot of bondo in it. Plus it's already been changed and was done rather sloppy. So planning to replace it. I have been looking and don't imagine I'll finding a nos passenger side quarter panel. But I gotta ask if anybody has any leads on where I might find one??
If there are any out there I am sure there being saved for there own projects!

Also are body panels date coded?

Looking well into the future but have a rear diff question. Originality or functionality? The rear diff in there now is a 3.23 from and Oldsmobile. Awhile ago I picked up a 1970 gto 9799202 xk diff with the 3.90’s in it. The car originally came with 3.90’s so thought I’d try them. Have only drove the car with 3.23’s and even with them cruising down the hiway the rpms seem quite high! Recently found a 1969 9795084 Xh diff with 3.55’s would that be a better option for cursing and originality? Or keep looking for the correct diff?

Also would this just be a casting flaw?

Depends on your goals, no question that 3.90's will buzz on the highway but bear in mind that a RAIV engine seems less annoying because of its free breathing characteristics but also NEEDS steep gears due to the high valve overlap-duration (no bottom end grunt), remember that the 3.90's were a compromise to begin with in 69, all previous Ram Air and Ram Air 2 cars came with 4.33's only. I think 3.23's would be a mistake for a RA IV car and 3.55's would be close enough that you might as well have the 3.90's. My opinions though are based on the typical collector car lifestyle of mostly sitting in a garage with limited cruising. If you wanted to use the car for long drives and trips maybe a overdrive automatic (TH700 etc) is an option.

Hmm I thought it still went pretty good with the 3.23’s! Always appreciate your feed back.

Been tearing down the car and have been trying to make note of the little details of how it originally came. Searched quite a bit and found there has been a fair bit of debate on the decals put on under the hood and door. Not quite sure of the dimensions of the emission decal under the hood but comparing pictures it sure looks like it originally had one. Also looks like something was on the fan shroud. Haven’t seen any pictures of GTOs with anything there. Seen some Chevelle s with possible a similar decal though so maybe something later on was put on there.

The other spot is the drivers door has some glue residue. It over the repaint so not to sure about that one. Also have only seen the tire pressers decal in rare cases being there and not sure if it looks quite the same size. Anything else it could it could possibly be?

I do not believe there is an existing example of a 69 Pontiac with a factory installed emissions decal and the vast majority of original untouched rad supports show no sign of ever having had one. But there are a few cars I've seen (most from the home plant like your car) that have what appears to have residue of it having been there.

As for the tire pressure decal I've only seen one car that appears to have an original one out of almost 40 years of looking at thousands of cars and it was in the door jam. As you mentioned yours is over the repaint, I'm sure it is just a gas station oil change sticker. The decals on your rad shroud were surely just gas station or aftermarket decals of some sort.

I'm eager to see your car done one day, very unique and striking mix of colors and options. I seem to recall an almost identical RAIV like yours in the same colors and wire wheelcovers but its a 69 Firebird.

Yeah they could definitely be oil change sticker. Just trying to make note of these little details as I’ll only get one chance. The emission sticker doesn’t show up the best in the picture but in person it’s quite visible. Appears to be about 3”x6”.

I was searching the UltimateGTO website as was mentioned and came across this nice white 68 with pin stripes!

Hi,

Those stripes are wrong though, they look too far apart. For reference here is a pic of a 69 Judge in white on red (just to get an idea of white on red)and another car with more correct looking stripes than the 68 in your pic (but in sort of an opposite color scheme of black)
