Correct length heater hose
Is there a correct length for the heater hose that runs to the front of the manifold or is it just a guestimate ?

I don't think there isn't a prescribed length but if you have the correct support bracket in place a guesstimate will work to match factory layout.
It differs between AC and Non AC.

For what it's worth my '67 HO without AC has the bracket shown on the bottom right of the drawing for the engine compartment with air conditioning showing the hose bracket attached to the fender. Fremont build in January '67.

1966 and 1967 with Air Condition or A.I.R. (Smog) came with the longer hose which was supported with a U-shaped bracket on the RH fender skirt.
All others had the shorter hose that was supported by the bracket off the RH cylinder head. Chris.

That explains why my car had the fender bracket since it was a California A.I.R. car.
In hindsight it would have seemed that a few inches longer hose but a much cheaper bracket over the large formed engine bracket might have actually been cheaper for Pontiac to do. Guess not or they would have done it on all the cars.
