I got to work early one day last December and looked on Ebay (like I do every day) and there it was. A '69 GTO convertible with ram air and a four-speed. I had been looking for a four speed '69 for a few months, but with documented ram air, I had to see this car. Luckily the car was located about 250 miles from me. I called the owner and asked him if he would end the auction early if the car was as nice as the pictures. He told me he would sell it for it's reserve price and yes he would end the auction early.

I've owned about ten GTO's over the years and know how to check the numbers and assess cars. The guy had owned the car since the eighties and had a lot of receipts and the PHS paperwork. I stopped by my bank on my way out of town and four hours later I was looking at the GTO.

It is an original, '69 GTO convertible, four-speed with a ram air III. It's Starlight black with black interior and a black top. Hideaways, hood tach, ps, pb, console, eight track and a power antenna. The body is in excellent condition and the repaint from the eighties still looks great. Since then, I have replaced odds and ends it's just about ready to show and yes it's sitting in my garage.

Congrats on your find. Sounds like a merry Christmas to you. I was fortunate enough to find my 67 GTO just before Christmas so i t was merry Christmas to me .The body on mine is good and was done over in 89 so paint is still good, a few chips but nothing serious. I was looking for a year for a 67, since that movie came out the price rocketed, typical just my luck.

Your 67 sounds nice Kate. I miss my 67 with it's classic look. Thanks for the nice comments.

I'm in Fairfax 1969 Ram Air and have a red '68 convert. Hope to see yours on the road soon. I drive mine about 10,000 miles a year.

I always wanted a blue '69 four speed convertible with white interior. A few months ago I pick up the auto-trader and there is a freaking Ram Air IV, four speed, blue/white, '69 Convertible. Owner had it 20 something years and had sold it for only $18K. These cars go for $65K-$100K+.

Nice! A smmmokin deal too! I am currently doing a 69 GTO Conv as well. Std 400/Auto, hideaways. Verdoro green/Parchment w/white top. I just redidi the top & top frame, and just got a set of 17" Torque Thrust D II's. Keeping the Rally II's of course. Love da ragtops

I finished a 69 convert a while back matador red black top and int. NOM had been sitting on and off inside body shops since the late 70's early 80's. Also had found at the same time a matador red raIII conv with red int white top. Now I changed the motor on the 1st car nov of 2002 but have been mobilized in the army since jan of 2003 and not yet driven it with new motor. Enjoy the top down action!
