Partial VIN ?
Does the block have a partial VIN down next to the timing cover?
That will be what signifies which vehicle it was installed in originally. The number above the 'WA' is the Engine Unit Number (EUN) and is kind of a serial number that Pontiac used to keep track of engines. Unfortunately, there are no records of which vehicle the engine went into based on that EUN for the 1970 model year. Good luck with the search! |

As it turns out it looks to be an over the counter motor, no vin on the front of the block and no evidence of any removal.
Thank you for the information. Just figured I would make sure someone wasn't searching for it before I did anything to it. |

It could be a Fremont built cars engine. Look to the left of the EUN. Block should be cast around A160. If so, car would be mid-February build.

This is a picture of a 71 455HO block out of an A body car built in the Fremont plant. You can see the partial VIN on the far left of the picture, just below the block deck. Block date code was I020 and the casting number was 483677.
