Wow - sharp looking car!
The paint they used looks a bit more like Adriatic than Lucerne to me, but that's probably just the images / computer.

It looks like my Lucy Blue 71 in shade.

Were the emissions call out decals placed on the fan shroud? I have an extra core support off another 71 and that is where it is.

What is incorrect on the bezel? It looks identical to my 71.

The wood grain. . That is not the pattern for a 71. I edited this post to add, the console looks like the proper grain.

My 71 has the same grain - late June build.

Yeah, that dash grain is wrong. Should be the burled walnut grain like on the console. The seller acknowledged that the parking light bezels were from a 72 but left them on there as a personal preference, saying that they are easily removed.

I can’t see the PHS clearly enough to confirm, but the seller doesn’t list the Formula wheel in the list of options so I presume it was added. I did note that the hood tach was listed as a factory option. Looks like the restorer got it it right with the black paint in front of the glass gauge face, but I can’t see the defrost tube that runs over to the heather box. Were those on all hood tach cars?

The 71 burl wood was a one year only, almost impossible to find an uncut one, or maybe any one. It is common to use a 70 or 72 dash, or a repro which is also not spot on. Look closely at the console, that is the way the insert should look. Mine is a mid June build and it has the correct Burl Wood.

I need to examine my old console, see if it is burl or grained.

Also will check to see if the bezel has a date code.

That is a very nicely restored 71 Judge on eBay. Great pictures and details.

Mine is not close to the extent they went to in enhancing the restoration.

Not sure about seatbelts on the eBay one. But, sure hard to get everything perfect as these are my original belts and upgrade are stainless.

I’m okay with mine being White. Nothing will be perfect...

Mike, I notice that you have the defogger hose with the white check valve in it that runs from your hood tach to the heater box. I wasn’t sure if those came on all hood tach cars or just those with the AC option. Can you shed some light on that and show a detail photo of where it connects on the fire wall?

I examined my bezel for a date code - none, just a part number. The applique is textured as shown, unlike the console applique which IIRC is aftermarket and may have replaced a bunged up Burl original. I bought the car in Fall of '96 and have no reason the think the dash has been out of the car before me.

Maybe someone else on here can shed some light on, if any 71 GTO’ s came with a dash insert that wasn’t Burl Wood.

Scarebird, the 71 your talking about, is it a LeMans or a GTO? Only the 71 GTO’s had the Burl Wood grain. I noticed another post from you that your redoing a 71 LeMans.

You can see the connection at the heater box. No connection to firewall.

GTO got burlwood on dash and auto console too.

I do not think it was as clear cut as that. Here is a pic of a 1971 LeMans Sport with the Burl inserts. Both dash and consoles inserts look light colored so may not be original.

Ames catalog does not differentiate between Lemans/GTO/T37 as far as 1971 goes. only that is is different than 70 and 72.
