You could do the "correct" color but go from lacquer to base coat/clear coat, for some added depth and durability.

I did that with my pickup (from high solid enamel to bc/cc) and I loved it.

Code 72U Apple Red WA 7473.

Plus - I don't think you are going to get realistic data from a computer monitor.

I think you'll have to get out in the world and look at a bunch of cars.

Plus plus - I had a friend that was a street rodder that was looking for the perfect red for his hot rod. He looked at hundreds of cars and colors at the time. I think he ended up with a Mazda RX-7 red, which he claimed had the right amount (like one drop) of "blue" in it.

I have a 65 that is re-done in Dodge Viper Red - much nicer than Montero red in my opinion.

It's actually a Dodge colour with a slight tweak, PRJ or PRH
Blaze crystal red. I have the code if interested. But won't post in Thread.

I like 2004 GTO Torrid red. Really, really pops with a vibrancy you don’t see in the older colors. We painted my dad’s 73 Caprice this color with white interior and a white top.

This is an underrated post. You need to see it in person. Even just the brightness setting can make a car look slightly different. I always share with my customers who request online samples that nothing matches what it looks like in person because they never do. No matter how good of a picture it is.

Just a thought. How about a very rare color... Martinique Bronze? My now red 66 GTO was originally that color from the factory. Watch "Night and Day" with Tom Cruze and Cameron Diaz. She drove a 66 GTO 2dr coup that color. Super nice.

Factory Montero Red or the better 2004 GTO color is Pulse Red. Torrid is that ugly ass resale red that’s on every Chevy.
If you want a dark red then check out the Dodge Challenger’s octane red or even the redline red
